Yeah, I think he was just throwing it out there to throw it out there. And 2wd's make the perfect base for a SAS. You're not paying the extra cost for a 4wd system that you're replacing anyways. Less parts to deal with too.

Correct, no off-roading here.. maybe a couple donuts here and there in the dirt but no crawlin/trail ridin..
What's the benefits of SAS, in short?

It is a better setup if you are into rock crawling. More clearance, better articulation, etc etc.
And I missed your question about '00 wheels on a '99. Yes, the bolt patterns are the same. The only thing you have to keep an eye out is to not go down in size as a general rule, i.e. don't go to a 15" wheel if you have 16" wheels stock. There are caliper clearance issues. Some smaller wheels will work, but I think it's just easier to stick to the same size or go a size up.

if you want good looks, then go with a body lift, new wheels and 285's. that is probably going to put you right at 2k
if your doing interrior, get you a nice in dash dvd player. i freaking love mine. im not a big interrior guru so i guess keep it to just the exterior.
if you want fun mods then do TBS or deckplate mod. install some aux lights on the bumper. all easy and not very expensive. or just spend it on repairs. (probably the best choice)

Thank you on the rim size question. Yes, i'm only going to be going from a 15 to a 16.
Words of the wise, spend it on repairs. I like the way you think. I'm sure i'll spend 2k and the water pump will go out :redbrick:
285's are a bit much since I do so much highway travel. I'm hoping that will change soon though, which if it does, i'm going 275 all day.
Painting the rims could be a genius idea.. maybe go from the 30's that are on there now to a 32 or 33?
The thing is, for the price of just new tires, I can find used tires and rims on craigslist making me want to trash the rims I have now..
Here's the runner I love.. my style all day (maybe a little too lifted for my liking/driving situation, but love everything else).

You already have the 99 so check the color code and see if it is the tall coils(not all 99 are the tall coil versions) If it is then a good shock replacement, rims and to save money on tires Yokohoma Geolander AT's($150ea), good road manners and adequate for off-road should you ever venture there. The Michelins($200ea) are great but will eat up almost half your budget.

some stock 5 stars- paint them/tires, sport hood, black out the emblems, projectors. new suspension, tundra brake up grade.. spend the rest on titties and beer..
some cheap mods- deck plate, isr. convert the outlets to always on, install fog lights if you dont already have them, disable the day time running lights.

If you've got 15" rims, you probably have the small brake calipers. If you get new rims, you should consider the Tundra Brake upgrade. Stock 5 stars or Tundra/Sequoia rims can fit the 231mm brakes - HUUUUGE improvement. If you get new rims that only fit the 199mm calipers, it will only be a HUUUGE improvement.
If you replace the suspension, '99 tall springs would probably give you a small amount of lift. That's what I have on my paved-roads-only Runner. It'll eat into your gas mileage a little bit - I get about 250 miles before the gas light comes on.
Those would be my suggestions - '99 tall springs, new rims/tires and Tundra brakes.

:bluejump: Just to clear up, 100% joke. One of the cleanest Runners around.
Color code determines the coils? Ok. Interesting you bring up the Geolander.. I found a set on a used set of Tundra rims here locally.
I do like ChildrenOfBodoms. Not a big fan of the grill but like how he keeps the stockish look. I'd lose the chrome flares. Love the rims though.
