Looking to get a realistic idea of what my 4runner would go for.
Basics:
1997, 179xxx, 4x4, limited, Desert Dune paint, Auto

Upgrades/maintence:
99+ highlander rear springs
Tundra 13WL front brakes
External trans cooler
Full cooling replaced ~3 years ago
All front ball joints replaced ~2.5 years ago
Rear axle seals/bearings replaced ~2 years ago
Mini D2S HID retrofit into 99+ headlights
5th gen trailrunner 17" rims (265/70/17 tires with plenty of tread left)
Regular oil changes
Timing belt don't by previous owner ~140k
Viper 2-way alarm w/remote start
Spidertrax spacers in all 4 corners
Tow package with e-brake system
Dark tint all around

Kicking around getting into something with more creature comforts since I don't wheel or off-road much at all.

Really depends on where you live. In Northern California, that would go for about $6000-$6500 but they are expensive here since everyone wants them to go up and play in the snow. If you live in like Tennessee or something, $5000 would be a more realistic price. Check out your local craigslist for ideas.

There's a 1998 Desert Dune (they're calling it silver) for sale on Craigslist in Mechanicsville, VA for $5950 right now. The dealer is John Talley. After looking at a ton of worn out 4Runners and Tacomas that color is growing on me. Link:

It is simply worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Not to sound like an ass but that is the truth at the end of the day. I would say from 5k-7k on the high side. If all records and maint are there them it is going to be worth a little more. See what kinda of deal you can work out and hope that you enjoy the 4runner.

Can't say because I'm in a different market, but I bought a '99 Sr5 with 168k with rear locker and 5-speed for $4500. This was a couple years ago. So I would say about $4k or thereabouts?

FWIW, brake upgrades, trans cooler, wheel spacers, etc. don't mean diddly squat to the average buyer and don't increase the value unless you're selling to an enthusiast. I would pull what you can without damaging the vehicle and sell separately.

The northeast is not an area where 3rd Gens are in high enthusiast demand and the average values represent that IMO. I would it is because of the limited areas to wheel. I agree that you should remove some of the added parts because you will not make a profit on any of them. I would say somewhere in the high three grand area at most.

Totally understand! I'm just going off what has been for sale around here, the year, miles, etc. and I put that in the KBB calculator. I have looked at a few and have been surprised at what people think is "Great Condition". Good luck on selling. I hope when you decide to sell you get all you can!

You must have been in the know because someone here on the board from CO just sold one just like yours and he was asking 8k.
