What's a healthy SC sound like at idle?

I'm feeling pretty good about my outdated static tensioner right now...

The static tensioners are great!! Just sucks when you have to adjust them and if you let it get too loose and slip the belt off. These SC belts tend to snap when they come off because they get jammed in between the tensioner plate and the pully and the rotating mass of the supercharger itself takes longer to slow down than the crank pully. BUT it's the same for the dynamic and static tensioner, just a bit easier in my opinion to neglect tensioning the static one over time. I just say, use which one works best for you. I'm a bit lazy and rather have it tension itself. Lol

Fair enough. I dont mind mine one bit. I check my belts every oil change anyways so its no different for me. I also keep an extra set of belts in the truck. If the SC ran off either of the other pulleys I'd call it a pain in the ass, but the alternator adjustment is super easy to manage. Either way tho, boost > no boost.

I have the static tensioner. And the noise appears to be coming from inside the body of the SC not near the belt.

Guess we got a little ahead of ourselves...

Back to the phenolic drive adapter I'd say. In the picture at the following link its the round piece on the right with the 6 holes.

$218 for a whole new nose cone assembly seems like a steal. Maybe the only thing supercharger related that isn't completely over priced.

I'm with BenK, it's either the adaptor or nose cone bearings, if you want to go the cheap way to start then order the oil change kit. The kit comes with the drive adapter so that's a start. I'd recommend taking the belt off and turning the nose pulley by hand back and forth, if there's play(clunking sound) then you know it's the drive adapter. If there's play up and down its likely the nose cone bearings. I'll look for a video that will help.
