What's everyone using for storage boxes in their T4R?

Hey guys, I am currently in the market for a 2010+ t4r, and was curious about storage options. For those of you that carry extra fuel on the roof, how do you go about keeping the cans from degrading in the sun/weather over time?

This is the coolest storage box I have ever seen! I want it so bad but too many other things I need to buy before the EJS.

Military medical chest that is used as a kitchen camping Storage trunk. spreads out to two tables and shelf. Great for Camping and to put all your things for easy storing.
Measures 30" x 19 1/4" x 18"
medal handles for easy to move hard metal latches to keep everything tight.

I have a couple of these. The first one purchased in hopes of the ultimate kitchen kit. It will tie down vertically next to an ARB fridge, but totally occludes the rear window.
They're a great, weatherproof, versatile, container but too tall for the 5th gen if you care about rear visibility.

How solid are these? Deciding on whether to go with ARB or TruckVault

I have not seen it in person only pictures. Can you utilize the storage space inside well or do the dividers make it no so efficient? Was wanting to set it up as the kitchen box with campstove and cooking supplies. Is it pretty durable or is the metal real thin? Aluminum or steel? Sorry for all the questions! Like I said I really like the cool factor but need it to be very functional and tough as well. Thanks...

Currently using 2 Wolf Pack boxes. They're definitely expensive for what they are, but they're sized perfectly to get them out of of the way for daily driver tasks or luggage.

I pulled out the sliding cargo tray and built a wooden box, I "lost" about an inch and a half of vertical open space but gained a 5inch vertical storage space. Great for recovery gear , first aid kit ect. Couldn't tell any difference in road noise after installing the box. 1in pine frame, piano hinge on 3/4 in plywood deck. All sealed with a waterproof paint and upholstered with outdoor carpet.

It is not flush with the seats down. You would have to chop it down another inch and a half.

Just finished my cargo drawers. They are 10 inches tall and one is 32 inches deep the other is 24.

I had one. I gave it away rather quickly. The plastic reminded me of a little tykes toy. It was also easy to flex it open rendering the lock useless.

What I did go with is from Betterbuilt sold by Northern tool.

For one thing it is metal or alloy. Two the handle is lockable, then if you really want to go wild, you can put a padlock on it. I wish it was a little wider, but I mounted quick clamps on the sides for a hacket and a crovel.

When it comes in, it smells like ass, or at least it's rubber mat does. I opted to spray paint it as silver gray wasn't my bag baby. I attached d-rings to it so it can be secured.

My 4runner has the drawer system which I felt put this thing to high, you may not feel the same way. I ended taking the drawer out, but before taking the carpeted decking and hidden compartment out I noticed, wait this thing will sit right down in the molds and it'll be perfect. It turned out great. Those molds help secure it. I'm glad because I didn't feel like springing for a normal flat floor.

I really wanted to try the springtail solutions drawer, but they quit making them. I'm not really willing to pay more for some of the other solutions, and I'm too lazy to built one at this point. So for $300, this thing rocks, is much more secure and is less cumbersome than the little tykes plastic box up top.

My only gripes are, I wish it was THE perfect size. The STANK you get when you open the box. (It goes away) Lastly, the welds are FUGLY, but you'd get past that.

I just got some adhesive to line it with neoprene in today. I'll probably mount tracks up top for a fridge at some point. I'll be getting another one soon since my son likes it and wants one. Also a friend has two, one stacked on the other one.

I was searching for action packers the other day and not finding much - stopped at the army surplus store and found these containers. originally for medical equipment. about half the price of similar sized packers but much more durable and totally sealed. only real *issue* is 10 latches versus 1 to open.

I decided on the 35 Gallon Action Packers as I wanted something to fit besides the Fridge. Storage is a huge personal preference, I still love the idea of the ARB drawers but as [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION] pointed out you loose flexibility when you permanently mount something like those, not to mention the costs is an order of magnitude higher then these. We sleep in the back of the 4runner and normally end up putting our stuff in the tent or on the ground under the truck. The solid construction to me is more flexible (good chairs) and weather resistant then large bags. Other comments

*Side to side room is fine but front to back you can only recline the rear seats a small amount (minor downside as we normally take the seat bottoms out anyhow.
*They are tall so as far as organization you really need separate bags etc inside the box other wise it turns into a giant junk chest.....at least its out of site but something to consider.

Engineer, how is your fridge mounted up? I realize this is an old post, but I'm a bit curious.
