What's the MAX Speed when driving in 4x4 mode in a V6?

What are you talking about straining the system. That makes no sense. The V8 is already full time 4wd. I've driven over 100 for extended periods of time.

I would say that, because of the fact that you don't have the option of switching out of AWD, one... and two you have an oem tranny cooler, 3 you have an extra 0.7 L, it wouldn't strain your system. But, if you had the option of putting it in 2 wd youd see improved mpg.

Common sense will tell you that if you have extra mechanisms engaged (the front wheels)you will put more stress on the system as a whole, the amount of strain is up for grabs. Once again there will be more load on the engine.

Fair enough. As far as the temp of the tran pan; which was warmer in the morning 4Hi when the ambient temp was around 30 deg F than in the afternoon 2Hi when ambient temp was around 48. I would say that it was a appreciable difference.

* at the end of the day is it going to make a difference in the Longevity of the drive train.... Probably not. But it was a fun project and poll.

I don't know what to make of that result but I'd love to have access to a V6 to test it out. We V8 owners can't test it and most V6 owners have no incentive to. A few V6 owners have mentioned that they always put the truck in AWD for the duration of the winter which would create an incentive, I would think. Hopefully, one of those owners will see this thread.
