Whats the point of a suspension lift when...

your axle is at a fixed height? I understand you can get larger wheels and tires, but you probably arent going to gain 6" or whatever. Is the suspension lift really so you have more center clearance?

This may be a stupid question, Im just new to off roading so go easy on me. Thanks!

suspension lifts allow for larger diameter tires to be placed onto the vehicle - thus raising the axle height. The raised bodywork opens up the wheelwell a bit which accomodates the larger sized tires.

susp lift give the frame and body clearance from the tires, which gives us the chance to put bigger tires which improves our ground clearance.
Im pretty sure i had 13" at my last measure, the same as a stock 04 trd taco :biggrin2:

In addition to allowing the use of taller tires, a suspension lift will increase approach and departure angles as well as break over angle (your center clearance ).

More importantly, a good suspension lift increases articulation (travel).
