This summer I sold 3 sets of wheels or tires on craigslist as I did some shuffling around. I sold my stock wheels and tires to some old guy who claimed to buy 4Runners fix them up and sell them to people in Africa. I don't know if this was true or not but he would not stop offering me $250 I believe it was. I told him I was firm at $300. He texted me the next day and asked again if I would take $250. I replied and said "$280, lets do a deal." His response was "Man, you're busting my balls here!" Really? He even told me I had the nicest set for sale he had seen locally.
Then I sold the tires that came on my 5th gen wheels. I had them posted for $450, they were literally brand new. Guy calls me asking if I will take $250, I say no. $400. He calls me back 30 minutes later saying he could do $300, I said $350. He then proceeded to ask if I would take $340 and meet him at a strip club to do the deal. I said no, $350 and I'll meet you at Walmart. We agreed and met there. He questioned the way the tires looked inside, where they have the ridges thinking it was an issue. He then offered me $300 in the parking lot again. I told him to go into firestone and find me a set of tires for $300 in there and you can have them for $300. He shut up, gave me the $350, and told me I took all his money. I told him he took all my tires and left...
The absolute best one was the guy who wanted to buy the Jeep wheels my current tires came on. I had an offer for $300 from a guy passing through town, but this guy said he'd give me $350. I go and load up the wheels drive out and meet the guy. He's driving his spacer lift Jeep Unlimited Sahara on 34" worn Nittos, wear bars nearly showing, with plastidipped wheels. It was obvious this Jeep was a mall crawler. He's looking at the wheels telling me how awesome they're gonna look on his Jeep. They were a fairly rare gunmetal color. He holds them up to his wheels and goes, man these wheels look smaller than mine. He then goes and inspects and his are 18's while mine are 17's. He then asks me if I think his old tires will fit these... I reply with "I'm not sure, maybe." He keeps looking and tells me his tires have at least 20-30k more miles left in them and he can't afford new ones for 17's right now. I was so mad since I had turned down the other offer from the guy passing through. I ended up selling them for $250 just to be rid of them to some other guy.
I bought my wheels from a member here and he was awesome to deal with, and the guy I bought my tires from off of craigslist was awesome too. I gave both of them asking price. He even held the tires for me for a couple days at a stupid low price so I could drive the 3 hours to go pick them up. He had left his TPMS sensors in there so I ended up mailing them back to him since he was a good dude. Not sure why everyone I have to deal with is dumb...
Moral of the story is I hate people and Jeep drivers don't know what size wheels they have.
