same as everyone else with the headlights.

my biggest gripe is actually the drivers seat. Something about it get uncomfortable after longer than 2 hrs and I have to shift my weight around. Even after doing adjustments to the lumbar, knee, sitting position I can never get it to feel comfortable enough like my old bmw.

Oh, and the beige/grey headliner on top of an otherwise all black interior really gets my OCD going.

- A powertrain (engine + transmission, fuel economy) from this decade
- Proper headlights that don't get a "Poor" rating from IIHS -- this one is inexcusable in 2019.
- An infotainment system from this decade
- An instrument cluster from this decade
- Larger fuel tank for improved range on long trips, peace of mind when off-roading in the boonies
- Keyless entry + auto start/stop across all models would be nice, but it's not for everyone
- Radar cruise control would be nice
- Heated steering wheel would be nice
- Power open/close tailgate would be nice

Crossing my fingers that the 6th gen addresses most of the above issues without turning it into a Highlander.

I thought this is what's required to turn it off on the Trail:

"I've got a 2015 Trail and here's what I do to disable traction control fully, although ABS is still on.

1. Come to a complete stop.
2. Put it in 4 Hi
3. Press and hold the traction control off button.
4. Immediately the "Trac Off" light turns on. This means the power will not be cut away from you when the wheels start to spin. However the brakes will still engage to when you start sliding to keep you going straight.
5. If you hold the traction control off button for 5 seconds (while stopped and in 4 Hi) a second light turns on. This light looks like a vehicle slipping with "OFF" below it. Now the brakes will not kick in when you start going sideways and power will not be cut when the wheels spin.
6. Put it back into 2 wheel drive and have fun!"

You don't need to be in 4HI I have a 16 and as long as you sit stopped and hold the button it all goes off. I can't complain about that because once it's off it's off and doesn't kick in at any speed so winter drifting is sweet.

I do a 10 hour round trip drive every month and I don't find this the case for me. They are not luxury but don't find them that bad. Maybe I have more a$$ padding some.

Now my CTS-V has Recaro custom seats and they are unbelievable. They were very firm and I thought that they would be terrible at first but once you get used to them they are great.

Agree on others with the gray headliner and trim. Just give me black to match everything else inside.

So have you not had a keyed ignition go out on you? The old days I would have one key to get in the door and a different key to turn the ignition over.... LOL

You're right, I misspoke lol. Not that older technology will NEVER break, but rather that there is much less technology, so less stuff TO break lol. I for one don't ever want to buy a vehicle with all the "Safety Sense" equipment on it. I don't need my car to maintain my lane for me or brake for me *shudder* I prefer control over what the car is doing 99% of the time!

ANNOYANCES:

1) Inverter switch needs to be turned on after every re-start. I need to charge equipment in between campsites, and I often forget after quick stops. The on/off light is also nearly invisible.

2) Tranny shift points; always wants to shift into 4th too quickly in/out of hills, ends up then 'searching' for the right gear (which, IMO, doesn't exist on this vehicle, spends too much time in 3rd on uphills). I miss the torque of my '03 Sequoia.

3) "Random switches aren’t lit up. Like the rear window switch." SERIOUSLY! WTF was Toyota thinking, this drives me nuts!

4) "I really miss my info panel that was on my 2014 TEP where the clock is." SERIOUSLY! This was an inane change on Toyota's part.

5) Not for my build: stock SR5 shocks are an absolute joke; the amount of nosedive in the parking lot during the test drive was simply atrocious; not sure how anyone drives a stock SR5.

6) Crappy headlights ('fog' lights do help poor performance of low-beams a bit).

7) Wearing large (winter) boots, the accelerator pedal is a bit too close to the brake pedal, and it's easy to contact the brake unless you really put your foot all the way to the right. Noticeable difference from our '03 Sequoia.

PROS:

1) All the obvious reasons I bought the vehicle for, it does what it's designed to do well (albeit with very crappy gas mileage).

2) The manual-shift ("S" mode) works very well, and at least allows you to drive the thing the way the automatic transmission should.

3) For my build, KDSS mated with TRD suspension creates near racecar-like handling on road (at least, for a vehicle of this type); it's like the vehicle is on rails exiting highways on cloverleafs, it does not handle like a body-on-frame truck...

Something that I'd want in my Runner is more dome lights. Given the size of the vehicle, I don't think there is enough interior lighting to reasonable see everything at night.

1. The position of the 4WD shift lever annoys the crap out of me. It should be on the driver side! I keep hitting the shifter in to neutral when I reach to shift in to 4HI. And the leather skirt/boot thing is really cheap and cheesy compared to a 3rd gen one.

2. The voice command BS. I can't find a way to pair my phone without this lady YELLING at me. Cant figure out how to even turn down the volume of the voice.

3. No fuel door lock. I can appreciate them keeping it simple, I can see the mechanism possibly breaking and someone getting stuck with no gas. I freaking love how simple they kept everything though. "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler." - Albert Einstein.

4. No ceiling light in the cargo area. WTF.

5. No easy access to replace the fuel filter.

6. Seat position always feels to low even when my head is almost touch the ceiling. Poor visibility over the hood.

7. No driver side grab handle.

Otherwise the 5th gen addresses all my gripes with the 3rd gen like being able to fit a 285 spare for example.
