Wheel and tire washing

My mom bought me this ArmorAll gift pack for XMas and it comes with a bunch of stuff, like wheel cleaner, tire foam, car soap, etc.

Can I use this stuff to clean my wheels and tires? I've heard that ArmorAll can cause some damage. How true is that?

Also, is washing my 2004 4Runner once a week to much and what should I use to clean the running boards?

Well, considering it is either dirt (think sandpaper) or dirt removal, I don't think weekly washings are too much if they are done by hand and done properly.

If you're referring to going to a car wash and using the high pressure or "touchless" washes, I'm not a fan of them and use them only when I have no other choice (on our 97 Camry, that's been just once).

If you're referring to the ones that actually touch the vehicle, then the answer is never use them!

By the way, make sure that whatever you do does not take off the wax you have on the truck. That means using a car wash detergent, not a dishwasher detergent.

all that armor all stuff is ok on the outside but never use it inside!!

Just wash the running boards and use plastic dressing on the bottom half. Never on the step, you will make them dangerously slippery.

Once a week sounds...exhausting!
I'm more of a once a month if I'm lucky.

If you're doing it by hand, washing is ok but not if you go machine washing. Just like jharris said.
