Wheel center cap painted toyota sign

Hey everyone,
i have been searching for a good while and have not found quite what im looking for.. i am planning on painting my wheels sometime soon and i wanted to paint my center caps a little different. i plan to paint the wheels a gloss black but i want the center caps to look a little something like the pic!

has anyone seen this done or would know a good way to do it? i might not do the circle in red but its just an idea! thanks for the help!

well i have some of the touchup paint that you buy that looks like a nail paint brush.. maybe that will work! i used it when i painted my KC lights! i was just hoping someone has done it and has a pic!

I got this. Used a microbrush applicator got it at a local hobby store for model cars probably. Also where i got the paint. And the TRD is a sticker..

That looks great!! is that a gloss black? i think thats the color im gonna do! it matches my brush guard tail light guards kc lights and soon to be yakima load warrior! (in painting now)

yeah! and you like the color or have you thought of going with flat black like everything that is plasti dipped? personally i like gloss better!

yes Ive done it. Pics in my thread.

Purchase gloss black 'automotive' spray paint. Automotive is different than rustolium.
2 cans semi gloss black black, 1 can basic primer, 1 can gloss cherry red.

You will want to strip the plastic down to bare plastic. I soaked them in thinner.

Then sand lightly.

Wash and let dry.

Primer the plastic; then let dry 10 mins.

Paint gloss black, two coats 10 mins apart.

Final coat of clear if you prefer.

Let caps dry fully overnight.

Now take the red can and spray it into a small paint tub/jar/cut soda can. Use a brush and hand paint the toyota logo red.

Let dry. Done.

Or if you don't have a steady hand you can roughly paint the "T" logo your choice of color then tape off the cap with just the center section exposed and spray a couple coats of Plasti-dip over it,let dry then peel the PD off but leaving it covering the logo. Spray the color you want the cap to be then let dry and peel the plasti-dip out of the logo and you're done.

I've also done it using dishwashing soap carefully poured into the painted logo and then let dry/harden,paint the cap and then "wash" the soap out of the logo.

Strip what? Are they painted? I don't think so. The wheels are painted but it seemed to me the centers just ARE that color. I did mine two years ago and all I did was scuff with red ScotchBrite and degrease with paint thinner. Then prime, paint and clear with Duplicolor wheel paint. All 4 still in great shape.

For some reason my center caps were grey/off-white plastic with paint over them. I tried to paint black directly on the silver_OEM-ish paint and it curdled. So I soaked them in thinner and scrubbed off the old paint. Then primered and painted newly black.

I stripped off all the old paint but looking back it was a waste of time. I used self-etching primer followed by paint and clear coat; all Rustoleum if anyone really cares.
