Wheel spacers?

New owner, not 100% comfortable with winging it, so I came to the trusty forum for advice. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I changed out wheels and tires for Fuel 18x9s with 275/65/18/9 offroad tires and got a leveling kit. Raised the rear about an inch and the front like 1.5-2.

Anyway, the wheels I wanted only came in a +1 offset and I really wanted like -12. I'd like the wheels to be kicked out just a shade...

Does anyone have any experience with wheel spacers? I'm considering putting on a 1" spacer, but not sure what issues I may have or if the folks who know think it's a bad idea. If it's okay, or even (hopefully) a GOOD idea, what brand do y'all recommend?

Any thoughts would be welcomed, before I go out and spend money on something that's just going to screw up my ride or wheels or something.

You’re rear studs may stick out past the 1” spacers, so make sure there’s clearance on the mounting side of the new rims, otherwise you’ll have to trim each stud down by hand or pay someone to press shorter studs in for you.

If it were me I’d just get rims with the correct offset, lots of people make -10mm Toyota wheels.

Otherwise stick to Spidertrax or Bora. I have some Bora 1.25” spacers for sale if interested.

+1 on the Spidertrax 1.25” spacers.

I don’t have a 5th gen, so I don’t know about the stud length issue. On my 4th gen, 1.25” was longer than the studs.

If you're getting new wheels anyway, just get the right offset like someone mentioned above. Nothing wrong with a set of Spidertrax, but it seems silly to add one more component when you're shopping for wheels anyway.

That said, I have 1.25" Spidertrax and haven't had a single problem. They can apparently fail if you install them wrong, but it's not hard to install them the right way. Don't use an impact gun, use a torque wrench.

Good advice. The wheels are already bought and on. They just don't work for me visually without the spacers. So, I'll go with the 1.25" Spidertrax and do it myself.

Bought the 1.25" Spidertrax from 4WheelParts.com. SpiderTrax's website was out of stock (weird).

They're shipping them to the house and I'll put them on within 10 minutes of getting home and changing out of my suit. ;-)

That looks like a problem. Well... Hmmmm... they'll be here today or tomorrow so we'll know. My assumption is that with that protrusion it's a no-go. Can't fit the wheel flush. I suppose I could cut down the bolt but it would be hard to do without buggering the threads, and probably not super smart anyway.

If I get that issue they'll have to go back.

Check the back side of your wheels. Some have relief cuts that will clear the studs

Thanks for the pic, tried to explain that in my first post.

Some wheels won’t work though, I know for a fact my stock FJC steelies won’t fit cause their mounting surface is nearly flat, the wheel would torque against the end of the factory studs and not on the spacer itself.

I had to hand file down each rear stud in order to run Trail/TRD ORP wheels with 1" BORA spacers. The Trail/TRD ORP wheels do not have a relief in the back.

Just make sure you get quality ones, they are torqued down, and you recheck torque on everything after a couple of hundred miles...

Hey Im looking for advice as to what wheel spacers I could run on the rear axle of my 69 K10. I will be using the factory 15x6 steel wheels and I want to do a 1" spacer to get it closer to flush like the front axle. I understand its not ideal to run spacers, but I really like the look of the 15x6 wheels with factory hub caps.
