Wheel & Tire Size Questions

4.5" backspacing with that size tire will rub the hell out of the front upper control arms. No offense but did you rear this thread? The very first post tells you that.

No I did but i thought it was a different tire size. But would wheel space fix that?

305's are pretty much a 33x almost 12.5 so to run that size on a 4.5" backspace you're looking at a 1" spacer at the least but I would run a 1.25" spacer on the front only. The only problem with that is how far the front tires will stick out, my 285s (33x11.50) stick out about an inch on 4" backspaced wheels so you'd be looking at about 2" of tire sticking out of the front fender.

Well I have been looking at 1.25 spidertrax

What are the cons of running them front and back?

Okay, what about a 8" wide with a 4.25 bsp?

going by what was previously stated in posts...by going from 4.5 to 4.25 back spacing you only moved a .25" outward. If what YotaZach85 says is accurate (to me he seems right on) then you're still not even close to getting them to fit.

You need atleast a 3.5...or maybe 3.25 to be sure. Then again like stated before thats gona push your tires out further.

OK, so I can stay with the soft 8's if I get the 199mm Calipers?
Yup, you can either grind the caliper down a little or just run a .25" spacer, I chose to grind the caliper a little.

Nope, you'll need a 3.75" backspace at least.

Alright alright. I get it now.

But why is it bad to have your tires stick out farther?

I don't about Texas but in some states its illegal for tires to stick out past the body. You dont want to run them in the rear if you plan on wheeling becuase they will push the tires out too far to stuff up into the wheel well, they'll end up hitting the quarter pannel. Is there any reason you want to run such a wide tire? The more tire you run the worse your gas mileage is going to be...

Well I'm new to all of this so I'm just trying to see what I can get
But now I'm looking at 16x8 with 2.5 bsp and a 285 75 16

2.5" backspace?! That would push the tires out past the bodyabout 4.5" inches! I run and would reccomend 285s on a 4" backspace, it looks perfect IMO and I can tuck my wheels all the way into the body without any rubbing issues.

Well how wide rims? I want 285 75 but it recommends an 8" rim but I can't find any with a good bsp

I'm running 16x7 without any problems. I actually like them better than an 8" wide wheel for airing down, I run ~15psi on the trails and I've never even come close to rolling a bead I think I'm actually going to drop down to about 12psi on my next trip.

OP, I would look at the ProComp 8069 wheels. They have the round holes kind of like the Soft 8's and I know you can clear the Tundra brakes with no modifications or spacers. IMO they look great too.

OR, get LC80 wheels....mmmmmm
