has anybody ever seen a more budget version of these?

I would like to know how much my truck actually weights/each tire

I know yes they have truck scales around but I'm not down right now to be driving out to the weight scales on the interstate. I used to know a trooper lady who ran one of the scales down in southern MN. and my wife would be angry if I went to visit her... long story.

You can do it with your average bathroom scale, one corner at a time while using a lever/fulcrum (so the scale only deals with a percentage of the weight). It's a math thing at that point. So, with time, you could do it for under $100.

hmmm this is a cool idea, I need to dig into this one and see if I can figure something out. I also wondered if somebody rents the scales someplace.

You can purchase auto scales cheaper than what you listed. check out Longacre or intercomp. BUT if there are any racers (circle track or roadcourse) in your area ask to go to their shop to scale your car. I have had strangers contact me to weigh their car.

Check with your local scrapyard/metal recycler. they use the scales to weigh incoming and outgoing to determine how much you are dumping. My city dump has one as well.

I was going to say the same thing. Head to the dump with bag of trash.
If you want to get all scientific and minimize the scale's margin of error, weigh the bag before you go.

Then take the "in" weight and subtract the weight of the bag. Then take the average of that and the "out" weight. And Bob's your uncle!:thumb:
