Wheeling in Pine Barrens NJ Nov 17th, 2012

Same here. Just hand washed it today, and cleaned the engine bay. Looks good as new now.

Is anyone going back on December 1st?

What did you use to wash wheels, I washed mine with water and rug and I still have so dirt on it?

Possible issue/ but not an issue

So my truck is making a weird noise and I guess the best way to describe it is that metal rubs against metal when I press on gas or drive. It is not loud if u have the radio up u can't hear it. And when I start up my truck kind of the same sound. I truly don't think anything wrong from riding in Pine Barrens, I just think I wet it to much when washing because when I was trying to get off mud inside wheel weel I just used power wash. So I think it is wet and when it dries should get back to normal. Any suggestions or anyone think it is a problem?

No, even when just on u can hear it, it is almost if someone is draging a metal on the ground. When I rev the engine to high it is actually goes away, the truck drives perfectly, no jerks in shifting, just this weird sound.

Loose belts, that should go away. Mine squeal when the engine is cold in the winter.

The noise appeared on Monday and Sunday I have extensive bath to my car after Pine Barrens I had no issues or noises. And in two years having a truck never heard that so hoping it is only because I used to much water.

I always used Dawn dish soap on the wheels. It is mild enough to not hurt the finish, yet strong enough to cut through the brake dust, mud, salt, or whatever else finds their way onto it. You can use it on your whole truck actually but it WILL remove whatever wax/paint sealant you have on their. So I would recommend only washing the wheels with Dawn and the rest of the truck with car wash soap until you want to wax it after.

Seems like a bunch of V6s are doing this after wheeling. Did any of you guys clean your engine? Also, are the belts very exposed under there? My drive belt is exposed but I have not had any issues, even though TONS of mud was under there.

I don't think it was caused by wheeling because it was fine, I think when I washed it, I used power wash and a lot of it. Because I read somewhere that dirt my erosion ur car so I used a lot of water, when I should off damped it and scrub.

Muddy water may make the squealing noise you speak of because dirt/sand particles can be a factor., so it is possible that you rinsed muddy water into somewhere it wasn't before.. This is probably more likely than you think to happen because as you are wheeling, your truck is on and all the engine parts are moving and working. While you were washing it, I'm sure your truck was off, so dirt could have gotten under an idle belt or fan while you were hosing down the area.

It could, but I would try to clean the belts more and see if that helps. Is it possible that you can get a video or sound clip posted? Did you open the hood and try to locate specifically where the noise is coming from?

Now I just have to figure out how to open my hood, because when I plasti dip my grill I took it off and then when placed it back my release lever broke so I can crank open but then the lever that we used to open more is broken, so I need to buy new one. Huh I figure Toyota is reliable I don't need to open hood unless oil change is needed.
