lol u guys are like high schoolers...im 18 and it sounds like high school drama...anyway, im making payments on my 03 v8 runner and generally drive 250ish miles a week, and i most definately plan to keep my runner, even if i have to work my "part time" job 5 days a week...i kinda like my 4runner, beats the crap outta my ol 94 ford ranger...btw, off subject question...why do the toyota computers lie about mileage so much lol...i get 15.5-16 actual but it tells me i get 18ish lol...just wondering

thought id just throw in that $.50 does matter to me, cause i dont make but 8 per hour doing light mechanic work. .5 x 20 is $10 more a tank...thats 10 more i could have wasted on some girl
I live in CT , and I'm shelling out at least $2.80/gal for regular. It does hurt that the expense for commuting is going up, but at 6'4" with two car seats in the back, there's not a lot of options for a fuel efficient vehicle that will fit me in front w/ a car seat in back.
Oh well, the wife's passat is comfortable and gets close to 30mpg, I guess we'll take that on any long excursions this summer.

Gas prices have been on the rise for YEARS now. Anyone who bought a vehicle in the last three years should have known the potential for gas prices to keep climbing.
To put it simply, if it hits you that hard in the pocket, then do something about it. Either find a way to earn more money, drive less, or sell the 4Runner for a more economical car.
Seems logical to me.
Buying beyond one's means seems to be the American way these days.
I should go and buy a 2 million dollar house so that I can complain about the cost of the property taxes....:bash:

Just workin' up some rough numbers for myself based on 5 years of ownership, inspired by <a href="http://www.forbes.com/columnists/forbes/2005/0509/100.html" target="_blank">this</a> <br /> article.
It does change one's perspective a bit.
5 year old limited 4runner with 80k miles
Depreciation $20k (from $40k to $20k)
Gas at $2 gal $2k per year = $10k
Insurance $5k
Tires $1k
Maint. $1k
Misc. $1k
Total=$38k
Total with gas at $3 per gal. $43k
50% increase in gas price results in 10-15% (13% in this case) increase in total operating cost.
Crude oil cost is very roughly about 1/2 the cost of a gallon of gas. If crude were free, total operating cost at $3 gal would drop 15-20%.
Corrections are welcome. I make no claims for precision.

Come on guys, lets just bury the hatchet here. Life's too short to be squabling on the Internet 
I'll be buying a motorcycle within the next two weeks to combat the high gas prices. Also it is something I've wanted to do for a while so it kills two birds with one stone. An added benefit on top of the great gas mileage is that the motorcycle will allow me to travel in the HOV lanes so it should reduce my commuting times as well.

Like I said sharp4runr, I am done...It is just obvious to me that some people don't like my attitude when it comes to the increase in gas prices. If you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen...it is really that simple. Have a blessed Easter everyone (if you celebrate the holiday)!

It's alway's a concern when gas price's rise , but frankly I've never owned anything that got more than 20 mpg. I knew damn well what I was getting into with gas prices and really don't worry about it. It is what it is and the gas will continue to go up and down and eventually go up as they condition us for higher prices.
I am kind of guilty about worrying about about buy now , worry about it later , but I do not live beyond me mean's of what I can afford.

I moved to US about 6 years ago and coming from Europe, maann was I happy with the gas prices. Now, I can afford to buy a big engine vehicle, gas prices are going up. Although still cheaper than other countries, you don't drive a v8 in other countries. I'm not making a big point or anything but why cannot things go right once in a while? If I sell the 4Runner (which I probably won't but let's asume for arguments sake), the gas prices will go down. This is how it is for me. Too bad it's affecting millions of others but really it's because of my bad luck!
