When will the Bilstein 6112 be released?

The 5100's that came with the Toytec Ultimate Coilover package I bought are getting a little tired. Doen anyone know if I can replace the 5100's with the 6112's and still use all of the Toytec hardware?

Whew, that was a lot of reading between 54 pages here and then a bunch of other threads on the 6112s.

I have a few questions for you guys. I have '17 off road premium. I want to raise the front about 1.25-1.5" (similar height of the pro). I'm also hoping to gain a little performance with minimal loss of reliability, so I was researching buying the pro suspension when I discovered the 6112s. They looked perfect but I'm now questioning the reliability after seeing Saker and a few others are having issues after what seems like a short amount of time. Are these guys anomalies and this isn't a big issue or are others not noticing because they don't look under their rig very often?

Second question, are you guys putting the left & right springs at different collar settings only if your vehicle already has a lean to it?

Are you able to set the spring collars/clips at the 2 & 3 position (on the new revised shock) by hand? I thought I had read something that implied the lower settings could maybe be done that way.

(It probably sounds like I should have bought a pro and I would have but the sunroof was a must have so I'm now making the upgrades to essentially have one but with a sunroof.)

Thanks! (Loving the forum so far!)

Mine leaked and was replaced (both sides).
Can't answer other questions as I have the first gen 6112's

Would you buy them again or go with something else if you could do it over again?

As long as you're here, I wanted to say thanks for the photo of how you trimmed the plastic piece to fit the TRD skid. I'm probably doing similar tomorrow and it's interesting to see what others have done. (Not a stalker, I've just been all over this board. Once I figure this out I'm moving on to dual batteries so I can run my ARB fridge 24/7.)

I am satisfied currently. Hoping I just got one that was bad....

No worries, without the trim filler piece, it just looked unfinished.
When the TRD Pro's are at port, they just pull that piece off and discard it, and install the skids... :wow:

Just my luck, looks like my mine is starting to give. Barely resolved my rears a couple of months ago and now this...
I'm starting to lose trust in their products. Granted, they have their limited lifetime warranty but the hassle of time and money to un/installed and then alignment sucks. And I have yet to test the limit of the 4runners. This is my daily driven, weekend trip and camping with the family, no rock crawling or high speed rough terrain driven. I'm really debating if I should get kings or something equivalent but I guess those requires interval maintenance every 20k or so....

Sorry to hear but thanks for the info.

As you may have seen I was debating what to go with because of concern with reliability. I ended up going with Kings. They are a lot of maintenance imo, but I figured I would rather have my 4Runner down every 20k-30k miles for a shock rebuild with better performance then every 10k-20k and having to haggle about warranty and etc. At the end of the day the additional money for the Kings didn't seem too bad. (I hope their customer service is as good as everyone says, at least I hope so if i have problems.)

is there any reviews or consensus on running heavier 650-700# springs with 6112's to help with added weight of bumpers, winch, armor, skits, big tires,RTT's?

6112's, heavier springs, assembly is about $991

or

fox 2.5 coil overs - $1265

decisions...

I'm running the standard 600# springs and they are holding up fine. I have a c4fab lo pro winch bumper, sliders, and fuel tank skid. Plus Aluminum skids from front to trans, plus Baja rack and RTT. I'm happy with my setup.

Son of a ***** I wish I'd seen this thread earlier! :puke:

Somehow I think I saw every other 6112 thread on this site but this one prior to today. I was researching what setting I should put my 6112's at and started from the beginning of this 50+ page read. This thread went from the advertised lift heights being off, brought the 90 day rear shock warranty to my attention when I thought all the 5100 series were lifetime and now several reports of leaking 5160's and 6112's. I specifically bought these because I wanted a reliable (non-heimed/lifetime warranty) +2" shock setup for my DD but now I am second guessing if I should have bought something else...

Google search for 5160 leaking shows this is not isolated to T4R's either.

Hopefully these are just a few isolated incidents or maybe they are in short supply because Bilstein has been correcting these issues! Has anyone had any failures on the newest front part number 47-259768? Rears have remained unchanged at 25-227611 all along right?

Contacted Bilstein and the only change done for the 6112 was more circlip settings.

The 6112 is a lifetime warranty coilover assembly.
The 5160 is only a one year warranty. (Edit: 90 days)

I chose the Icon rears so I can go above 2" and still keep the factory rake with the 6112's at 7/6 setting. That and I thought the remote reservoir wouldn't be needed.

So far I've put about 600 miles on it and I'm still giddy about the setup. No complaints. I would say it rides more like a truck now more than ever. I prefer a little more solid of a feel than the loose/spongy/bouncy feel of stock. Even my father who thought I was dumb messing with a new vehicle raves about how much nicer it rides and feels.

Is this the warranty for the new issue 5160's? I dealt with Bilstein last year for a warranty/refund on some 5160's... at that time the warranty time was 90 days.

So to the folks that have committed to the 6112/5160 combo.... I'm at the point where I'm about to pull the trigger on a setup to replace my OEM suspension and I've been battling idea's FOR LITERALLY a period of about 2yrs ha.

I think I decided I'm going to go with the following and I welcome any and all feedback:

6112 Front
5160/OME895E Rear
SPC UCA(BJs)

and before install/labor, possible tax or shipping costs. The best price I can come up with for all the parts listed above so far is approx $1,627.19.

What are your thoughts in regards to the setup, and also the price point?
