Where can i get performance front CV shafts??

Broke my CV shaft, was looking to get upgraded ones, found some on toytech website for $1000 but they only come with a one year warranty which sucks. Anyone know anywhere else i can grab these?? thanks

If you want something significantly better than OEM, you want RCVs.

Be ready for the sticker shock. Don't say I didn't warn you.
 
Yea, other than OEM (or parts store) you have 2 options: Lotus and RCV. RCV's have a limited lifetime warranty, but at $2000 a set, would be a very tough pill to swallow.
 
WOW 2000 bucks for shafts and they still break!! ya the shaft i broke was oem, but when i bought the truck it was already going and it lasted a year. i dont mind spending 1000 for the toy tech ones but with a one year warranty its just not worth it, ill get that same warranty with rebuilt ones
 
For a little over $100 you can get lifetime warranty on Napa Max Drives. Plenty of guys run them including myself. If it breaks... return for new.

Besides... breaking CVs on IFS trucks is just part of wheeling. Learn to swap and swap quickly :)

Agreed.. In all it's easier for me just to replace the dang thing and return it for a new one. 2 spares on me at all times, no worries.

UAs axles did not brake, there was just some R&D issues and communication issues that had to be worked through, but from my understanding RCV has been more than willing to make it right and stand behind their product

If you called and talked to Glen at Lotus i think you would be more inclined to try his axles out, awesome guy with the best customer service ive ever experienced. In the past couple years that they have been out of R&D only two of his axles have been broken, both by the same guy running beadlocked 35's, ARB front locker, and aired way down in heavy wet snow. Lotus axles are stout and i have no fear hammering on mine almost every weekend.

Yeah, but the rebuilt ones are not as strong. They "might" have a lifetime warranty, but that also means that you could be replacing 1/2 a dozen per season depending on your rig and driving style. There will also be a point where the parts store will cut you off; I have two Napa Max-drives with the lifetime warranties as spares. When I bought them the manager (which I know) told me he would not warranty them because of my rig.

I doubt you will break a Lotus axle, and if you do chances are it's going to be in that first year. These things are a lot stronger than stock, where it counts the most. Are they unbreakable? No, but it does take a lot to break one (ask me how I know). I guess it just depends how much you like swapping broken CV's in the dirt?

Nothing has broken. Super stout. The first set was missing the zerk fitting; then I became the test dummy to improve the sealing surface of the inner boot. All problems were quickly resolved and the evolution of the axles is impressive. CV's will continue to be the weak link of an IFS rig, though the RCV's are likely the strongest "weak link" available.
Stop reminding how much they cost! I try to block it out. People look at them and say, "Man! aren't those really expensive?" and I just have this 1000yd stare and blink a few times. :wow:
I was just ready to go to the top of the food chain. I want to spend the day wheeling. Not showing how good I am at trail repairs. You can't go wrong with the Lotus either.
Just don't replace broken parts with the same thing and expect a different result. If you broke an auto part store cv, you will break another. Trade up.

Exactly. After a rough start they did an excellent job making it right. I'm trying to forget all of that also. :lalala:
Any set purchased now would be perfect with all the changes. I would recommend them. FYI: Kraig is the most knowledgeable guy at RCV.

This, i hate breaking down on the trail. Wheeling time is for fun and relaxation, not for worrying if i try that obstacle am i going to blow a janky parts store CV.

Oh, and the cvj's are pretty inexpensive too... Just a bit more than the ones you get at napa with the cheap steel.
