so i seem like a "noob" asking this but i am having trouble finding the break light switch. My break lights are not responding and the bulbs and fuses are all good so i'm guessing the switch is my only option. i was messing with my alarm which is under the steering wheel so i'm guessing i hit the switch on accident

What does it look like? and would my car not have one? (1997 4runner limited)
also whats the exact location?

Thanks guys

just follow the brake pedal up.... you'll see it on the top front side... when you press the pedal it should release the switch.

Sorry to ressurect an old thread...

I just fitted a remote start alarm to my JDM Hilux Surf... the final piece missing is the brake light/kill switch.

Has anyone tried tapping into the green/white wire from this switch at that location? If so what witchcraft did you use because I can't seem to get to it! I even tried an evil cable tap (I hate them, everything on my truck is soldered and shrink wrapped) but couldn;t do it, one handed, by feel, with cramp in my arm from reaching up...

Is there an easier place to pick it up from at the front of the truck?

Thanks.

- never mind...

For the sake of the search feature...

I removed the drivers seat so I could lie on my back and get nice and close to unclip the plug (I am note sure if the angle of rotation varies with each build, but the release pin was at a really hard angle to get to on mine....) then pushed the plug up to behind where the instument cluster is and soldered the connection from there... (after removing the clocks..... obviously)
