Are you talking about being able to get it in neutral when it wont start? If so, theres a little cover on the top left of the shifter housing. Pop it off, and depress the black button inside and it will let you shift it to neutral

I have a 3rd gen..if its automatic..its on the passenger side of the transmission..look on line at a picture..you will see it. First thing to try is adjust it..its probably good.
Have someone hold the shifter in neutral..cause its gonna want to move when you try to tighten...adjust so the light comes on in neutral..then retighten...the bolt is a weird size..maybe 32mm or 33mm..i think i ended up using a sae inch and 7/8..Its a somewhat fragile bolt...thin...so dont crank down on it, just tighten it.

This nutural position safety switch on my 04 automatic apparently is there so you dont start the rig in gear. Its supposed to allow you to start it in either park or nutural but Lately I would have to work the shifter back and fourth from park all the way down to D and then back up slightly past nutural before it would start up but now it seems to have had the bisquit as it will not start at all. A good fellow named Chip took the time to find me a diagram of the transmission and it looks like the part is inside of the transmission case. Every other year Ive seen online is on the outside of the transmission but the part itself is the same shape as previous years that are on the outside attached to the shifting rod. Im confused and frustrated as I am dredding and contemplating getting a tow to the transmission specialist. Has anyone else delt with this before? It seems like a poor improvement over previous years models.
Thanks
Mark

Mark have you crawled under your ride to see if indeed the switch is not on the outside, it's hard to tell from the diagram I found if it's on the inside or the outside?

I read that diagram as the part being mounted on the outside of the tranny case.

And posting/replying to multiple threads under multiple user names isn't going to get you help any faster. If anything you are likely to be ignored.
