Where should I look to fix the driver-side door lock/unlock switch doing nothing now?

It's been working for years, but all of a sudden, the driver-side lock/unlock switch is no longer working.

Any ideas where I should look to see where the broken connection might be?

Is this a common failure?

If the master switch functions for other doors then check inside the wireloom. Going into the door from the body may be a broken of frayed wire.

Normally slow a few times before stopping when its this but the doot lock motors in these cars get old and stop working. They are pretty cheap on amazon now.

Sounds like the door lock actuator. There’s are some good vids on YouTube. Not super hard.

Thanks everyone. I haven't opened up the door panel yet, but the wiring seems ok when I squeeze and move it around inside the three-or-four-inch-long snorkel between the door and the jamb.

Where do folks think the wiring is bad? In that snorkel?
Do you know if it can be removed, or must it be slit open?

As for the actuator, do you know where it's physically located?

The lock hardware is probably worn out. To be safe, get it repaired at a repair shop.

The wiring can snap and still be in the insulated. The wires mostly break and sort in that wire boot you call the snorkel.

They actually are in the door lock assembly. I personally never seen one fail.. However, they can rarely and with the age of these now.. Very possible.

If you do find a broken wire in the door wiring, pull an extra wire or two through when making the repair. I had a second one brake soon after repairing mine. Had to go through the entire process again. Mine broke where they flex the most, close to the hinge point. Inside the rubber boot if I remember correctly.
