Where the Fender Flares optional on all 3rd Gen Years?

There are four levels of flares: no trim, chrome trim, black plastic flares and wide Limited painted flares. Base models could have no trim, chrome trim or plastic trim (I believe) and SR5 models could have any of these four by at least some point between 1996 and 2002, and Limited models had only the "Limited" style flare, which was the widest of all the flares.

Exactly. And I believe wide flares were only optional for sr5's after 99.

OK, thanks. Mine has the wide Limited Flares and I just did not know if they were only available for certain years. I though maybe it could be an indicator of the vehicles age. My neighbor has a 3rd Gen T4R the same color as mine but with the black flares. I thought it was a limited too but when I walked past it last night I realized that it was an SR5. Her sister has a sweet Green 3rd Gen T4R with no flares and I love that vehicle.

weren't there 4 options? There was the "limited" flares with the side cladding, and the "sport" flares which didn't have the cladding, but appeared to be the same size, unless you were counting those as the same thing

Widebody flares on the SR5s weren't available til '00 when they phased out the skinny black plastic version.

so kind of non related but so, are the limited wide flares the best to have for lifts? i hear people removing the flares for clearance, i'd like to keep mine if i can, i plan on running 285/75r16's on the stock rim and lifting my '99 1-2 inches as it already sits 1 inch higher than most of yours.

do ya guys think i'll get to keep them?
