Looking to get some input on where 2003-05 owners bought 2006+ style LED 4Runner tail lights for a tail light swap. I am looking for simple plug and play and noticed some people had trouble here and there and wanted to know what brand (if not Toyota OEM) you all recommend, and what you spent. Thanks.

Agreed... I'm like the stock look better though. The clear ones remind me of something that I'd see on a souped up Honda Civic. Plus my 4Runner is Dorado Gold. I think they'd look better on a black truck, or maybe silver.

Check the for sale/classifieds section here on the forum. There are always oem sets popping up. Anyways I got a set through ICPW in California. Had them shipped to maine. Had them for 2 days and one row of LEDs went out. Called them and they sent a replacement for free. I got the black ones to match my rig. They look kinda cheesy from 5 feet away but they look awesome from 20 feet! They seem excessively bright at all times to me. The reverse lights absolutely suck. Lastly.....the fit isn't that great. It is damn close but mine didn't match the body line 100% on the leading edge. Also they feel wobbly if you were to push on them, not snug. Bolts are tight. Cheap water seal. The wiring connector barely fit past the sheet metal frame on the driver side. Within 1/8". But overall I love them because they look amazing and the other cons don't really affect anything except kinda bugging me in the back of my mind. Anyways sorry for the rant!

See, those look AWESOME with a black truck. Maybe I'm wrong but I just keep thinking that something like that would look out of place on my Dorado Gold truck. It's 95% stock, and I dont plant on going crazy with mods, so I just don't think it would look right. I'm thinking about buying these:

Go for the oem LED tails they are truly bright!, u will never have to deal with aftermarket burned out led or fogging lenses. Check eBay sometimes u will find 1 or maybe even a used pair.
Yea, I been looking but they're too much $$$. If the LED lights burn out, does the whole tail light need to be replaced or do they sell a replacement "bulb"? How does that work exactly?...

they r not bulbs they are light emitting diodes you would have to replace the whole assembly...I have an 03 runner and I installed them in 06 when they put them on the 06 runners bought them from partsnet for 300 shipped back then still work like day one.

I wouldn't worry about the LEDs burning out, especially on an OEM part.
Also, I'm with Ghostrunnerr, I'd recommend getting the OEM tails instead of a random aftermarket brand. The OEM tail-lights may cost more, but you're paying for a part that will be a guaranteed perfect fit and overall better quality. In my opinion, they are also the best looking tail-lights you can get. Here's some pictures of mine:

I ended up going to am-autoparts actual website. They had the set for sale $151. I found a 5% off coupon and got a set of LED tails for $143.50!!
Thanks for the recommendation! So excited to ditch my pink taillights. Next step - 06-09 limited wheels. Why the 03-05 Limited wheels are the same as the SR5 I don't understand.
Well my LED tails are here and they're in. Brakes and turn signals work fine. tails also turn on when the headlights are on. However, my reverse lights aren't working. Any idea on why that might be? have any similar issue? I'm beginning to think I should just return them and go OEM when I've got the extra cash.
