Where to find hood strut retainer clip? (Pic)

Changing my hood, popped and lost the "C" retainer clip to hold the hood strut in place. Toyota says I need to purchase a new strut for $150 as the retainer is not sold separately. Could not locate this part online. Anybody know where I can find a new retainer clip?

Those clips are basically the same from hood struts to trunk struts to any kind of strut that attaches that way. You could go to Napa or something and find cheap struts, I think they have some for hutch cabinets for around $20, and just take the clip off it. Not the greatest solution but still cheaper than $150.

Could also see if someone who has upgraded their trunk/hatch struts to accommodate a rack ladder might be willing to part with their old struts that you could then scavenge the clip from.

EDIT: Supports for $14 on rockauto.com, again, if nothing else, take the clip off and keep using your factory supports
