Which Gen. Is the Best Looking

:iagree: I voted 3rd Gen but that does not mean I dont like the others...I like them all but think the 3rd wins by looks (stock)

I love the looks of the 3rd gen too. But there's no denying that this is primarily a 4th gen forum in terms of the having the most owners here. So it would stand to reason that the 4th gen would win the poll if everyone was voting for their own generation.

Here's my preference in order:

1- 06-09 4th gen
2- 3rd gen (early models, not sure of the exact years)
3- 03-05 4th gen
4- 3rd gen (later models)
5- 2nd gen
6- 5th gen
7- 1st gen

Very True.....maybe in a few years and if gas prices or the economy gets better they will be more 5th gen owners than 4th Gen in the Forum. Even tho' the 5th is the 3rd in line of my preferences by looks I am looking forward on purchasing a TE or LE as soon as I can. Because no doubt its a great vehicle

I've had 2nd, currently own 3rd and 4th. I'd vote for 4th if it has manual drivetrain and less plastic. oh, well, that's way, the wife loves the 4th more than I do.

Not true. Many 4th gen owners voted for the 3rd gen. If it was simply a popularity contest, the 4th gen would probably win because there are MANY 4th gen owners on this forum.

Just look at the sub-forums and you'll see that there are more threads and posts in the 4th gen forum than any other subforum.

I too own a 4th gen but voted 3rd gen best looking.

I think it was a SR5 actually...no photographic evidence of that though...unlike the inability to park straight! All I can say is, the customer started it!

Shorter and fatter? LOL, first of all, you're comparing your lifted 3rd gen to a stock 4th & 5th gen. Try posting a picture of all three vehicles stock and the 3rd gen will be the shortest.

I agree with you about the width though. The 4th and 5th gen are both definitely wider than the 3rd gen. I see that as styling advantage though. I like the wider look more than the narrow look.

No, it's not. I've owned both a 3rd and 4th gen and believe me when I say the 4th is taller. From the back, my 3rd gen looked lower than my 4th gen. I have pics of both side by side. I'll have to find them on my desktop computer and post them.

Either way, that guy posted pics of his lifted 3rd gen and it's just barely taller than the stock 4th and 5th gens in his pictures. So it's silly to make a statement about the height when you're comparing lifted and stock.

The 3rd Gens are the shortest, but still have the most ground clearance. No other way around it. Facts are facts.

Exactly. That's all I was talking about. I knew it for a fact because I had more clearance pulling my 3rd gen into the garage than I do with my 4th gen. I wish I had bigger garage doors!

BTW, I'm not even going to attempt to talk about ground clearance because that wasn't even part of the discussion. But I will say this: Toyota has been known to fudge their official ground clearance numbers for many years. If I ever wanted to know true ground clearances, I'd have to measure it myself. Toyota just can't be trusted! LOL

That's what John was saying too. I don't know why you disagreed with him.

The Toyota numbers probably aren't dead on, but I doubt any car manufacturer's are. There have been people on this site to measure their clearance and the 3rd Gens still came out to have the most.

John said "yes and no" when I said the 4th and 5th gen are both taller than the 3rd gen. That's why I was disagreeing. It's not no...it's yes. I wasn't talking about ground clearance...I wasn't talking about the height of the rocker panels...I was just saying that the 4th gen is taller, which is true. And that means nothing to me, just like which has more ground clearance or which has higher rocker panels. The whole point was that some guy posts pics of his lifted 3rd gen next to stock 4th and 5th gens (which is fine), but then makes a comment that the 4th and 5th gen is shorter. LOL. That's just silly because a stock 3rd gen is the shortest of the three generations. That's all.

Hi! Some guy here! This thread is supposed to be about looks...and my name is FoneRunner not some guy...and I was making an aging joke not passing judgement on later gen trucks. I love them all...mine just happens to be lifted 3 inches and those pics lent themselves to a joke.
