Which is better ARB or TJM

I need to re-gear so I want to have a locker front and rear installed while the diffs are apart I have been looking at the ARB but I was wondering if the TJM is a better design since the oil will not go into the air lines and they state there is nothing to wear out I think the ARB may have updated there system though
I have researched this on here but there is old posts looking for updated info
thanks

I would go ARB, TJM is a foreign made ARB copy

I am not sure I would agree with that. TJM started in 1973 and was one of the first companies in AU to manufacture off-road parts, ARB started in 1975 doing the same thing. In AU TJM & ARB are direct competitors. In the US ARB is very large where as TJM is quite limited. Both companies design their products in AU but manufacture many products overseas (ie China).

ARB branched out by partnering with OME which was originally a separate company than ARB. Eventually it was brought into the ARB umbrella. ARB contracted with Engel to make fridges under the ARB logo for many years. Then they contracted with another company overseas to manufacture their fridges.

In AU there is another smaller player called IronMan that makes a smaller suite of products like TJM. Good quality, but difficult to get.

I run a a TJM winch on my ARB bumper. Both are technically manufactured overseas but good overall quality.

So is TJM really a foreign made ARB copy?

They are similar but different. I do like the copper Lind touting of the TJM better, but the ARB is easier to get.

Wow, I knew about TJM making stuff in China, but did not know about ARB stuff made in China. Since TJM is relatively new here in the US, the only products I saw offered first were China made stuff that just looked like ARB knockoffs. Didn't know about the history they had.

China isn't bad, there are a lot of quality manufacturing plants in China. We always here about the bad, but when overseen properly good products can be had.

Many OME shocks are still made in AU, but they are made by Monroe Shock Absorbers (owned by Tenneco) at the Coverlly Park plant in AU. Keep in mind not all the parts used in the shock assembly are fully sourced from AU. But technically it's built in AU.

Just my uneducated & non-inflation adjusted 2 cents.

You are going to have to clearance the rear housing to fit the TJM's solenoid. The ARB is a direct fit.

This is a great point I didn't remember

Thank you for all the responses

I was also wanting to put lockers in so my altrac doesn't need to work overtime I ran red elephant and my brakes were squeeking after I got done lol

Other than the extra work for the TJM I think the sealed design of the TJM is superior as is the routing of the copper line. I haven't had mine long but it has performed well offroad.

I was also wondering if you still use the center diff lock with the lockers?

Yes you would, if I'm not mistaken vsc will still cut engine power and CDL provides a 50/50 power split between the front and rear wheels.

Correct. I have found with front and rear locked without the center diff locked I get very little power to the front while my rear spins. Plus you will want to cut off the VSC. Really no draw back to locking it I have found.
