Which style of custom door panels?

The seat kits where ordered from leatherseats.com I could make the covers, but they have laser dye cuts and it's cheaper than what I could make them for. But when it comes to custom stuff they can't touch me. They would have charged over $2,000 for the door panels and arm rest. I did for about $100, with the exact same material. (But it took me a week)

I like this idea and your custom work. Although I like the one with full lines better. I have thought a lot about doing a more custom interior. But don't really know how to do it and don't have the money to pay someone else to do it. But it's cool that you have the know how. You should keep going with the customizing to see how unique you can make it

Speaking of material.... do you know what the factory "leather" actually is? Someone told me it's not real leather and I'm no expert to know otherwise.

Since it sounds like you work with a lot of different types of upholstery fabrics, what did you select for your new seats from that website and for your own custom door panels? Is there a distributor for better quality stuff than what came standard from the factor?

Do you know of a good resource I could study up on the different types of materials used for auto purposes?

My interior was cloth, so I am not sure. Most of the time the areas you sit and touch are leather and the back and sides are a vinyl. I ordered my seats in all vinyl except for the perforated inserts. I wanted the vinyl because it holds up to abuse and neglect a lot better than genuine leather. If it was a really nice car that I wouldn't be climbing into dirty all the time then I would get leather.

With that said there are different qualities of vinyl, and leatherseats.com uses a higher quality than most.
