Whining Noise at 65+ mph

I'm experiencing a whining noise only during acceleration around 65mph. It only happens during acceleration, and when I let off the pedal it goes away.

I have a 2006 V6 LTD. Is this something I need to take to the dealership to have them check?

I sometimes get that when the wife is in the passenger seat. When she's not there, problem fixed.

I would have it looked at. If you hear the sound while the car is in neutral I would be less worried about it, but if you hear it when you are accelerating, I would definitely get it checked out (could be tranny, transfer case, etc)
