Good Point, Make them way in advance and you can also keep checking as people do cancel. As far as camp grounds go they are all great but honestly gooseberry looks to be the one I would avoid since the views are not as good as the rest. Another point, you should scout out Murphy's hogback and make sure it's clear so you don't meet another vehicle head on since it won't be fun or safe!
