Who doesn't have kids?

I currently say I don't want kids and while I won't say I never will, I highly doubt it as my feelings towards it have only gotten stronger.
Personally, I don't feel the need to have them. No urges to continue any sort of family legacy. And above all, I LOVE my independence. That can also be called being selfish, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I think some (not all) parents have children for very selfish reasons themselves.
I have two nephews. They're as close to having kids as I ever want.

I just turned 41 and my wife turned 40 a few weeks ago. We tried about 5-6yrs ago and it didnt happen. Now that we are in our forties and the world "seems" to be falling apart at an alarming rate, we decided not to have kids period. I plan on having a vasectomy this month, already scheduled the consultation.

We're 32, I don't know if that qualifies as "youngin's." We say we'll "never say never" but it's not at all a desire we share.
I'm taking my wife to Croatia on a motorcycle adventure this September.
My friends with kids don't do these kinds of things.
Just last night I was telling my wife, in regards to our Sheltie who is a bit of a barker at times, "you know, I have to remind myself when I get annoyed by his barking that at least he doesn't cry or sh!t in a diaper."
ETA: Plus I'm fairly certain my seed would spawn those tie dyed dancing bears. :hippie:

I'm the same way. I feel like I'm indifferent but at the same time I feel like not having kids would let other people down. Don't get me wrong... I would never use that as justification of having kids (though I know people that have), but at the same time that's something we would inevitably have to address, and I'm a pretty direct person so it won't go over well.
I have 3 nephews and a niece I'd gladly drop on your front porch after their visit over the holidays. I'll never make that mistake again.
This is another point I keep bouncing around. After looking at the expenses I can't see how people can afford a kid, let alone multiple kids. So this typically results in a lesser quality of life at some level. Those that can afford it either have a very handy familial support structure (which neither of us have) or work so much they end up not being able to enjoy their kid's childhood.

I'm 23 with no kids, so I don't consider myself qualified to speak on the subject. But it always seems to be the people that should have children don't, and the ones who definitely should not have kids pop out a baker's dozen.
This is not directed at any one of you. Just an observation I've been noticing more and more frequently. The past few years though, I've definitely considered not having kids.

I've got 3 nephews and 2 nieces and we see how much of a struggle it is for our siblings to maintain a budget and sanity. There is always someone screaming for something. There are times when we play with the kids and think it would be nice until they do something crazy.
You Sir, hit the nail on the head! I see so many people who can barely support themselves popping out kids like rabbits. I hate standing in line at the grocery store behind some degenerate with 6 kids paying with EBT card(s). They always seem to have new iphones and Escalades tho. There lies the problem. Our society and our government encourage people to have kids! The more kids you have, the more tax refund you get, and the more government assistance you get.
The wife and I decided on 1 child, exactly because of what you said. We don't want to diminish her quality of life by having more kids. We have her college paid for already (Thank you GI Bill), and choose to live well below our means to be able to provide for her in the future.

Awesome. I could have written that myself. I'm 39, been married for 17 years, we are both on the same page with regards to not wanting kids, we went to Croatia in '07, our friends don't realize the awesomeness of international travel, and I get annoyed at my dog for insignificant reasons from time to time.
Kids aren't for everybody, and some people don't get that. It took 10-12 years of marriage before people stopped asking "when are you having kids."

No kids. Happy to keep it that way for now.
Same boat here. Both of us are 30 and at this point kids aren't in the plans. We both have a good income and that allows us to travel and experience things we otherwise would not be able to. If it "happened" we would not be dissapointed but we enjoy the life we live.
