Who Has A Factory Front Coilover Laying Around?

Actually, you need a measuring tape too.
I wasn't able to find the specs on the factory front suspension, and I am wondering what the length is on the OEM Tokico struts/coilovers.
Extended and compressed lengths would be awesome, but if you can only get the extended length, that's just fine.
Looking for the starting point to be the center of the top hat(between the bushings on the top stud), and the ending point to be the center of the lower eye.

It's the same as any aftermarket coilover for this truck. The suspension stroke is the same and the bumpstops are in the same position so it's safe to assume that. Only thing aftermarket coilovers get it longer down travel. Should make finding that number a little easier

That's what I thought too, but there is actually some variance in aftermarket shock length specs, and that's why I'm looking for hard measurements of the stocks!
Bilstein actually shortened up the extended length of their Tundra 5100 by almost 1/2" at some point. The old '00-06 part number is superseded by the new, but the old specs are still listed. 1/2" at the shock means almost an inch of wheel travel.
Is less than an inch of wheel travel really a big deal? Not really, but I'm just curious.

I had a spec sheet at one point that came with my Kings that had the compressed length on it. I'll see if I can find it later today

I was talking to a buddy about suspension and travel. Stock travel came up, and he was under the impression the 5100's were longer travel than the OEM, while I always thought they were the same travel. I had just never even thought of the possibility of them being longer, and wanted to find out if they were.

I posted above 18.5”, which is center of top hat to center of the lower eyelet. I think he measured at the top of the upper bushing to get 19.5”.

Ah ok makes sense. This might not be the case for all 5100s, but in my case they were longer travel than stock. When I swapped them out for extended travel Kings the extended length was the same. I also very disntincltly remember the 5100s being about an inch longer than stock which made the initial install somewhat difficult because I was fighting the stock rubber bushings and hadn't loosened the bolts to allow for the additional droop. I have no idea what part number 5100s they were though so ymmv

Wouldn't the stock number vary across the years/trims/2wd v 4wd?

01-02 are shorter, 99 highlander is the tallest, 4wd is typically 1" taller than 2wd, etc

IIRC from my own research, I think that the 99 highlander is around 18.5" extended.

In theory the shock should always be the same size because the coils are what give the lift numbers you referenced above. The coils make the ride height variable, but they should all be the same length shock to prevent overcompressing the shock from it being too long and bottoming our before the bumpstop is contacted. This is why top plate spacer are bad, mmmkay? Lol

Mine off a 96 RED/BLUE spring top had to bolt eye center 19" exactly. 250k on the shock and spring...shock leaking.

i misread the original post :lol:

it brings it to 18.5" when measuring it from the top plate to the center eyelet
