Who Has A Sunroof --- Opinions Wanted

My 4Runner has a sunroof and this is my first vehicle with one.
I LOVE IT!
So far it has given me no trouble and has been great to use. Often I just pull back the shade so I have more light inside. Other times I open her all the way up and enjoy the air rushing by.
I'm 6'1" and it was the loss of headroom with a sunroof (an option I really wanted since I'd never had one) that almost stopped me from getting the 4Runner in the first place. Now that I have it I've had no problems with height or room.

We had to replace our sunroof about 4 months ago . It slide back and would not slide forward again . Damn good thing it was a realy nice day outside . Toyota took it that day and kept it for 3 days . It never made any noises and it never leaked, both before and after the problem . Beware if the track has to be replaced , as it wil have to be ordered form JAPAN and takes 6WEEKS for it to arive stateside . The truck now has a little over 27,000 miles on it . I am 6' tall and have plenty of headroom . The thing is awsome . JUst pay real close attention to the roofrack limits . I think it says it can take 150 lbs . AS for the TSB its been fixed as far as we are concerned . I wouldnt think of getting another Toyota with out the sunroof . ITs awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I concur with the general sentiment - go for the glass. My wife wouldn't let me buy our 4R without the sunroof and I'm glad she stuck by her guns - it's a great option to have. She had it on her Accord and didn't want to do without it - it will be a standard option for us from now on when car shopping.
And we've also experienced no issues with it - Toyota seems to have done well with the '05 roof.

Thanks for the info. I think im going to join the rest of the sunroof people.
I cant wait to get back to the US and start shopping 5 more days...I rented an '04 without sunroof, and a week later I went to the Toyota dealer looking at the '05s. I don't think I would have bought one on the spot if they didn't have sunroofs. It is a good sized sunroof, not like some other vehicles. We get alot of snow and cold weather, and I haven't had any problems with it. I have even been above 100mph with it, and I didn't notice any extra noise.
I'm on my 4th 4Runner now and have never bought one without the sunroof. It really does add to the pleasure of driving.
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but with the sunroof open I get more air through the vehicle which cuts down on the sulfur smell when it happens.
I'm 6'4" and just barely fit.

I have an 05 T4R 4WD LTD with moonroof. I have had it for a little over two weeks so no problems to report. I open my roof daily. My previous car was a 97 T4R 4WD LTD with moonroof also. I logged 322,000 miles on that car before selling it. Absolutely no problems with the moonroof.
I did buy an extended warranty with the 05 T4R...too many electrical gizmos on this car.

My two previous vehicles were 1996 Explorer and 2004 Explorer. Both had sunroofs. Early on the '96 sunroof started making noises. I suggested they grease it. They wanted to replace it. I figured if they did that it would never have a good seal again so I ignored the noise and it went away, never to return in 150,000 miles. Sunroof on the 2004 was about the only thing that didn't break or malfunction in 32,000 miles. I notice the sunroof on my '06 Sport has a little spoiler on the front lip of the opening with a scalloped edge. I guess that is why it doesn't seem to have that resonance that sounded like your head was going to explode in the Explorers unless you rolled the windows down. Go for the sunroof. By the way, speaking of extended warranties, those Ford folks know their cars. The extended warranty quoted to me when I bought the Toyota was about $1000 less than what the Ford extended warranty would have been had I been foolish enough to keep it past the basic 3/36,000.
