Who has had issues with the Cooper ST Maxx?

Lots of scattered information on the Cooper ST Maxx's. Primary complaints stem from balancing issues and pulling to the right.

I'd like to open a poll and hear about your experiences. Any issues? None at all?

No issues, just swapped them to Fj steelies and tire shop didn't have any issues with them. The most weight one had was 5 ounces total. They are heavy though, will be a MPG hit.

I run mine at 38 front and 36 rear. I had a bad pull after install and found the right front at 45 and the others at 40 or below, check your pressure, lol.

I had a set of that same size and loved them. They wear well, and handled a variety of terrain competently.

Yes, they're heavy. But they're super burly.

Annoyingly, like others have reported, mine did pull to the right. The intensity of this depended on the type of road surface and some roads were pretty extreme. After a few thousand miles you just get used to it. However, I was one of the early adopters of this tire and did not know the pull was a thing. I spent a lot of money, time, and frustration in several alignment shops trying to fix the "problem".

Again, after some time you won't really notice it anymore, but I was always slightly embarrassed to have anyone else drive my truck because they would always assume something was wrong with my suspension or alignment.

Pulls to the right also. Slightly noisy. Does well offroad. And yes, they are heavy.

IMHO, The best tire available!

I have these in the same size format...they are amazing and we've had ZERO issues with balancing, noise, or pulling...I think much depends on the wheels they're being fitted to and the competency of the tire shop...excellent tires! No matter what I drive on or how close to the floor the skinny pedal is when driving, we get a solid 15MPG no matter what...a certain hit on the MPGs but one doesn't purchase a 4runner for efficiency, but for safe, compliant driving in any situation!

Running 255/75R17. I love them. They do pull to the right. They are incredible off road. I don't mind the mild pull. Negligible imo

I saw one blow out the sidewall climbing a smooth ledge in Moab. Maybe it was a fluke but I havent seen any other flat tires on the trails.

I run BFG Ko2's on my 4runner in a 255/75/17 flavor because I didn't need/want something as aggressive at the ST MAXX, but i do run them on a large portion of the light fleet I am responsible for the government.

For the price, I haven't been able to beat the ST MAXX as an agressive, durable and relatively longer lasting tire. At least where I get them locally, they are cheaper than comparable quality tires, and the results make them a great bang for the buck.

If I didn't mind the weight penalty, and needed something pretty aggressive, it would be ST MAXX hands down.

I have a fascination with running 255/80/17s. If KO2s were an option, I’d definitely consider them.

I’ve also flirted with the idea of running the Falken Wildpeaks, but they just don’t seem that durable...

I've run 2 sets of 255/80r17 ST MAXX tires on a 4Runner and Tacoma. I didn't notice the pull to the right, and I'm pretty sensitive to things like that.

They are awesome tires and are the best all-around tire offered in the skinny 33" size. They are heavy but worth it if you need/want a super burly tire. Mine also fit in the stock spare location with the V6 factory hitch. V8 hitch seems to be too big to allow the larger tire to fit.

That sidewall blow-out in Moab must have been a fluke since its rare to read about sidewall issues with the ST MAXX and STT PRO, at least compared to Dura Tracs.
