That's a great suspension lift--I had one on my first Runner, a '94. OME builds quality stuff, and they make the rates specifically for a factory-like ride. Check out the Rocky-Road site--they're an authorized dealer of OME, and give a lot of info on what goes into making the pieces of the kits. You're getting a good price with your ad, too.

thanks for the input. it's either this or a ball joint spacer up front :nono:

i could see the bj spacer throwing off the geometry of the front suspension.

gonna save up and get it. how difficult would you say it is to install those new torsion bars?

I still have new shocks on it now. with this lift would stock shock still be ok? or would i have to go with bigger ones?

You will need longer than stock shocks. You'll want the OME ones anyway. I run my lift WITH the ball joint spacers as well. That way you don't have to crank the torsion bars and stiffen the ride. Several of us on here have done that. Toytec sells the whole kit with BJ spacers for a reasonable price.

On the torsion bars, a lot depends on how much rust you have. I cheated and had a shop stick mine in, and they had to torch off the adjuster bolts and get new ones because of the corrosion. If you're rust-free, they shouldn't be that difficult. You will need longer shocks, which are included when you get the whole kit (which I would recommend--they match the valving to the spring rates).

i just looked at this kit you talked about. its either torsion bars or ball joints. my runner floats in the front now even with the new shocks so i think i would get these to stiffen it up a bit and get a set of spacers separate. sounds like it would be fun to install.

i currently have the stock 4.88 gearing with 225/75R15 tires(came on it) should i re-gear when i go to 31s? its a v6 auto 4x4 BTW

With 4.88, I would got to 33's, not 31's. Go read through my build thread. There are pics of that lift with 31, 33 and 35" tires. 33's work the best.

No need to regear at this point.

Gearing also depends on if you have and auto or 5 speed. AT's require lower gears for making it close to stock power/mpg's.

how are your mpg's with the 33's and stock gears? they make that lift look bigger than 2".

I have the 4.56 gearing so you are already lower than me. I would not mind lower gearing, but what I have now pushes the 33's just fine. As for MPG's, they suck. I'm getting 15mpg at best. I plan on regearing to 5.29, doing a 1" body lift and running 35's next spring though.

That IS a very good price, even with the additional $87 for the torsion bars--I believe mine was just under $700 a few years ago (although I also got the steering stabilizer).

just to clarify, are the torsion bars an add on to the kit along with the spacers? or one or the other. i figured i could use the spacers for the lift and replace the bars to stiffen it up a bit (i think my bars are getting weak seeing as mine likes to float even with new shocks)

The ad isn't extremely clear, but my interpretation was that you choose either the spacers or the torsion bars, and if you go with the bars, it's an additional $87 (that is, after all, a lot more metal). The bars are supposed to provide lift without having to crank them way up and make them too stiff--all the kits I've seen don't even offer BJ spacers. As Footofgod mentioned, if you're looking for maximum lift, you could do both--I would call Wabfab to see if this will increase the price (since it sounds like you're only supposed to get one or the other). I would definitely get the bars, given the age of yours, and make your own decision about the spacers.

ok. thanks for the clarification on the bars. i was wondering if they would lift it without cranking them up. not really that big a fan of the ball joint spacers anyways. if i can get the lift i want with just the bars that will be a route i go.

You can, but it will not be a comfortable ride.
