Who is running 33x12.5 tires?

Coming to you guys again for some help. I'm still not 100% happy with my stance after adding my bushwhacker flares.

Initially I wanted to avoid doing a body mount chop, so I went with 285/70/17 ko2's and 1" bora spacers. It does not rub on the body mount but it is very close. Most recent pictures of stance shown below.

It doesn't look bad, but I want to go wider and have my tires stick out more. I was looking to switch to nitto ridge grapplers in 285/70/17 because they seem to run a little wider than the undersized ko2's which would probably require a body mount chop, which I am now willing to do.

So I got to thinking, if I'm going to chop, maybe I should just go all the way and go for 33x12.5

if any of you are running 33x12.5, can you please share some pics with your specs. Such as wheel size/offset etc. and what mods did you do it make it fit without rubbing?

Currently I'm running 285/70/17 ko2's on 17x8.5 zero offset. I have a 3" lift with stock upper control arms.

Let's see those wide stances! Thanks

Another reason I wanted to go ridge grapplers is for the slightly more aggressive tread pattern and seems they run closer to a true 33" diameter.

My current tires measure in around 32" and look small to me. I know it's just aesthetics, but isn't that half of the game?

Jesus those flares.

In my opinion, anything short of a 35 is going to look tiny with those fender flares be nearly as tall as your sidewalls.

Center caps will work wonders for your aesthetics.

Do you mean actual caps that cover the lugs? Or do you meant the center piece that's brushed metal color? The wheels come like that, I've considered painting them black, but no on the top of my list.

I think the swap to nitto's will help. 285/70/17 are suppose to be 32.7x11.2 but I measured them on my rig and they were more like 32x10.25

Tire sizes I'm considering for nitto ridge grapplers:

285/70/17
295/70/17
33x12.5

I mean the center piece. To me it looks like the center cap is missing and exposing your hubs. Weird design, I'm surprised the wheels come like that.

Here's an image I found on IG that shows the stance I'm trying to achieve

My 2nd TRDP came with dealer-installed 20x10s with 4.5" backspacing, wrapped in 33x12.5s. I loved the stance, but didnt like the poor ride quality and we lost about 1mpg relative to stock.

I had to move the fender liners forward and trim the bottom rear of the bumper. This created about 1.5" of space on level ground. They still rubbed lightly on the BM, but I never experimented with alignment to possibly increase caster. As minimally as they rubbed on the BM, I am pretty confident that, especially with aftermarket UCAs, it could have worked.

However, I can't confirm they would not have rubbed at full articulation. My current 285s on 17x8s with 4" BS are only about 3/8" away from the rear of the fender liner above the BM, with the wheel cranked all the way left and the front left tire stuffed all the way up (left rear off the ground). Again, however, I have not experimented with caster.

Your stance looks good! Is that picture of your current 285 set up? Is your wheel offset -10? The stance looks really wide for not having spacers. What brand of tires?

I got 305/60r18 on mine with the flares and it sits perfect in my opinion. Without the flares it looked like the white T4R in the above picture

That was the 20x10s, 4.5" Backspace with 33x12.5x20 Treadwright Mud Claws.

Here is my current setup with the 17x8, 4" BS, with 285s.

The 20x10 / 33x12.5 setup stuck out about 1" further than my current setup, which sticks out a bit more than 1" further than a stock TRDP, which is something like an inch wider in stance than a Trail (and more for an SR5).

I'd say start there. You are going to want aftermarket UCAs to allow for more caster and move the tire away from the body mount. This will reduce the amount you have to chop if any.

My tire is a 285 measuring at 32.7" and clears the body mount easily...I have JBA UCAs with +5 caster, and everything else in spec.

I see what you mean your truck looks amazing, but the tires look a bit pizza cuttersish(fender flares accentuate the look). Would 1.25 spacer do anything to help? I also think BFG's never measure to their true size. My nitto's on the other hand were almost exactly the side advertised. I also think running a more Aggressive looking mud tire(like all the pictures posted in this thread, I believe the while one is running toyos) will give you the illusion of a meatier tire because of the aggressive Lugs and side walls.

I love those methods, was going to put them on the jeep but didn't care for the centercap set up(at first they weren't even selling them with centercaps)maybe trying plastic dipping them to match wheels?

Get better UCA first and foremost. Not worth trying to get away with stock. Now are you looking for wider tires? If so I think you need fiber glass front fenders and some wide body for the rear. Otherwise IMO with a foot of wheel poke for looks it will look super mexiflush like all the Hoopdie rides I see in LA.

Are you running spacers tho? I clear ko2's 285's with 1" spacers right now. But if I go to 33x12.5 I think I'll have to chop either way with or without uca's.

It does indeed look pizza cutter to me. That's why I want to grab the ridge grapplers. They are wider and more mud tire-ish in appearance. I'm already running 1" spacers. I don't think .25" more would make much of a difference. I think I need to add about 1" more.

Is your plan to run the spacers with the 33s? Either way going to 33s and with that lift you'll be better off getting new UCAs. You'll probably still have to chop especially if you run spacers. If you get UCAs and adjust the caster to +4 you minimize the amount necessary to chop. A set of SPC or JBA would do fine for what you want. Just my $0.02.
