Who is running 33x12.5 tires?

This is interesting. So everyone is doing a body mount chop in order to get wide tires which make the truck look stanced? I thought it just took a lift, a wider rim, and a fairly large spacer. Maybe a little trimming for the plastic in the fender, but those body mount chops look pretty gnarly...

My 2nd TRDP came with dealer-installed 20x10s with 4.5" backspacing, wrapped in 33x12.5s. I loved the stance, but didnt like the poor ride quality and we lost about 1mpg relative to stock.

I had to move the fender liners forward and trim the bottom rear of the bumper. This created about 1.5" of space on level ground. They still rubbed lightly on the BM, but I never experimented with alignment to possibly increase caster. As minimally as they rubbed on the BM, I am pretty confident that, especially with aftermarket UCAs, it could have worked.

However, I can't confirm they would not have rubbed at full articulation. My current 285s on 17x8s with 4" BS are only about 3/8" away from the rear of the fender liner above the BM, with the wheel cranked all the way left and the front left tire stuffed all the way up (left rear off the ground). Again, however, I have not experimented with caster.

What exactly do you mean by poor ride quality? Stiff bumpy ride? Do you think that could've been due to the 20" wheels and not the 33x12.5 tires?

I'm on the fence right now between 33x12.5's vs. 295/70/17 with with wider wheel spacers.

It was likely a combination between the overall increased weight (the suspension basically pushing against the more massive wheels on the downstroke causing a correspondingly greater upward force on the rest of the car), the thinner sidewalls, and the E-rated tires that caused the rougher ride. It certainly wasn't bone-jarring or jaw-chattering, but coming inmediately from the supple stock TRDP it was not insignificant. It didn't bother me, but it bothered the wife enough to actively change them (surprisingly, she didn't mind the noise!).

Non-E-rated tires on 17s shouldn't be nearly as bad.

I have E rated right now and they don't bother me. Unfortunately they only make c rated in 285 and they aren't wide enough for my goals. Thanks for your response

Just my 2 cents. I think you should narrow down the exact tire you want and go from there. Look at the manufacturer specs and decide what works for you. Seems like width is your main goal. So, I would imagine a 33x12.50 would be the main thing you look at. But some manufacturers 295/70 are close to if not equal to their 33x12.50 in the width department. And with the 295 you will get a tire that's a little taller, which I think would go a lot better with your flares.

Me personally just went with a 295/70 r17 cooper stt pro on 17x8.5 with I think -6 offset. Which brought the tires dead flush with the stock fenders. I had to move the fender liner, trim bumper, do the bmc, remove mud flaps, trim a little plastic around bmc, and a little trim on the fender mount tab. And that's with 3 inch lift, UCA'S, and caster at 4.9. And probably have more trimming to do, but it's streetable.

Adding bigger spacer then what you already have isn't going to make much of a difference in the way it wears on your suspension components.

Im running 285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on stock TRDPro wheels and 1.5 inch wheel spacers. I rub slightly on the body mount right now. I also have Icon UCA so I may try to get the caster set forward a bit to see if I can get the rubbing to stop. :AK47:
How's the wearing on the tires on the smaller Pro wheels, I'm looking for the same setups. Minus the spacers. Do you think there's any rub without the spacers? Thanks

Im running 33s, on 17s with a 1.25 wheel spacer, 3 inch lift with 1 inch body lift, will change out the tires for 315s or 35s in a few months

Coming to you guys again for some help. I'm still not 100% happy with my stance after adding my bushwhacker flares.

Initially I wanted to avoid doing a body mount chop, so I went with 285/70/17 ko2's and 1" bora spacers. It does not rub on the body mount but it is very close. Most recent pictures of stance shown below.

It doesn't look bad, but I want to go wider and have my tires stick out more. I was looking to switch to nitto ridge grapplers in 285/70/17 because they seem to run a little wider than the undersized ko2's which would probably require a body mount chop, which I am now willing to do.

So I got to thinking, if I'm going to chop, maybe I should just go all the way and go for 33x12.5

if any of you are running 33x12.5, can you please share some pics with your specs. Such as wheel size/offset etc. and what mods did you do it make it fit without rubbing?

Currently I'm running 285/70/17 ko2's on 17x8.5 zero offset. I have a 3" lift with stock upper control arms.

Let's see those wide stances! Thanks

Cozen89, How did your 33x12.5 setup turn out?

I'm interested in running 33x12.5 18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers or Toyo Open Country R/T's on a 18x9 +0 wheel. Trying to gauge what needs to be done to make this work.

18x9 with zero offset is what I have and getting 33x12.5x18 tires

I am doing the Body mount chop, got rid of the mud flaps, aftermarket control arm and will trim the fenders/liners. Should look great
