Don’t forget the 1998-2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 with its Ram Air hood. IIRC, it basically fed air into the air box.

Yes, I had a ram air formula.
Mine was a '96 similar to this one.

You can still get a functional hood scoop on the Charger and Challenger, I believe. They have the option of a ram air hood with the shaker option. The theory is that, instead of feeding your vehicle air through an under hood air box, a hood scoop allows for cooler and denser air to be fed to your engine, improving horsepower. Same idea as a cold air intake. The cold air intakes that people are installing on their 4runners are still drawing their air from a hot engine compartment. Wouldn’t it be better if they were drawing their air from a functional hood scoop instead? All it would take would be a redesign of the air intake. I like the look of my hood scoop. It brings back memories of the old muscle cars. It’s not anywhere near as hideous as that “desert air intake” they’re sticking on the Tacomas.
