Who wants Apple CarPlay or Android Auto?

True. What annoyed me was my wife would pick up my phone to surf for music and it would take the GPS off screen. Maybe it was user error.

I have an aftermarket head unit with CarPlay and that's how it works. I think it's because it uses your phone as the processing device, where my guess would be the entune head unit seems to have it's processor in the head unit and uses the phone to access data.

From my experience it only does it if you switch to a CarPlay related app, like Maps, Pandora, Spotify, iMessage, since it doesn't change when I use Soundcloud or a game. But that is a legitimate gripe. It would be great if there was a way to disable that.

I'm pretty happy with CarPlay, but there's a caveat to my review; I have it in a 2007 vehicle that had no touchscreen, bluetooth, aux port, nav, etc., so it was a huge improvement. I always wanted to replace my entune head unit, but since it's more of an incremental upgrade I never pulled the trigger.

Not Apple play but this unit was mentioned on several threads on TW. Basically mirrors your iPhone or android onto your entune screen. Kinda pricey though. There may be other less expensive alternatives.

That's pretty cool. Do you know if it maintains the touchscreen on the entune screen? You can do that with my aftermarket Kenwood head unit, but since it uses a combination of HDMI and USB, it basically just mirrors your screen like if you connected to an AppleTV and you still have control everything with your phone.

I'm positive you have to control through your phone with this. It's primarily mirroring what's on your phone screen and audio as well. So that would inable the use of google maps, movies,pics , ect on your entune screen.
