Well yea any trip is off roading. I'm pretty sure these guys do a lot of bouldering too though so I wasnt sure which your new to. Im very experienced off road but Ive never bouldered so that why I asked. Just trying to get an idea of your skill level
 
We don't do a lot of bouldering. Most of our rigs just aren't set up to do heavy duty rock crawling. We mainly do desert trails with a smattering of stuff up north thrown in... Like around Sedona.

With that said, I'd be up for a Payson trip to Payette draw. Been meaning to get up to that area for a while now and it's plenty cool now. Should also be some good water in the draw from the recent rains. If we do Payette, that's more on the order of rock hopping and shelf jumping. Not a stock friendly trail...

But really, anywhere would be fine by me.

I don't think I'll be able to make it this Sunday. Both trucks have unfinished projects going on that I doubt will be done in time to take either one out.

There will be a bunch of trail runs after the 4 Peaks Cleanup next Saturday too - there will be something for everyone so if you come out to the cleanup and want to go wheelin,there will be plenty of opportunities.

How bout table mesa, bartlett, butcher jones, sycamore/4 peaks?

Id say wait till the 4 peaks clean up to do those trails. You can help out, get some freebies, meet some folks, and hit some trails. Wish I could go.


I was reading up on the verde valley trail up in Payson. Could also check out Payette draw. The verde valley one can be done in a stock 4 runner, Payette draw apparently can get gnarly but there are tons of turnouts. Could be fun.....I think we want to fish a little too so Payson is looking good.

what's wrong with fishing? This time of year, on the rim, the trout are really fattening up for the ice-over. Some of the best fishing on these lakes takes place right about now...

Yeah, fly fishing on those lakes is difficult without a float tube or a boat. I've had much better luck on the fly up at places in the White Mountains like Nelson Reservoir, Big Lake and Becker Lake (which is one of the only blue ribbon trout lakes in this state). Caught some monsters out of there on a size 12 bead head Prince Nymph fished about 8-10 feet below the surface... But that was a long time ago. I don't even know what condition my fly fishing gear is in at this point. I would assume that after living in the garage for a decade or two I probably need all new line, backing, tippets, etc...

It can be very boring and yield almost no reward. If i wasnt on a time crunch i wouldnt mind but in reality i probably shouldnt even be offroading tomorrow. I can make an exception for that but i cant for fishing unfortunately. Sorry :/
 
Since everyone is probably busy at the moment or at the Tool concert in Tempe wherever the majority wants to go is fine. If it's a no go I'll hang up my "gone fishin'" sign at 10am
 
guess you kind of have to know what's happening at Tempe town Lake right now to get it. other than that if no one can agree where to go I'm going north
 
North to Payson it is... Let's plan on meeting at the junction of Bush and Beeline highways around say 9:00 AM? Then we can caravan up to Payson and head off to Payette Draw to damage the undersides of our Runners! Afterwards, Fishing and/or squirrel hunting up on the rim... Payette draw isn't that long of a run, so figure on being done around noon'ish?

Works for me...except for the damaging of the 4Runner part. We may be a little late getting there. I think we have to renew our fishin licenses.
