Why does the YZZA5 filter say YZZA"2" on it?

Got a YZZA5 filter from my local dealership, and I see it says YZZA2 on it.

Did they put the wrong filter in the box? Surely not? I searched and couldn't find a clear answer on this.

I checked one of my filters from the dealer. The box has 04152-YZZA5 and the filter inside has 15613-YZZA2 written on a paper pleat. 15613-YZZA2 might be a BMW and Renault part number and that filter has the same diameter, height and filter media that Toyota and Lexus label as the 04152-YZZA5. When you install your new filter, check for proper height so that oil does not bypass the filter. My A5 filter height is 3-1/8th inches at the outer edge.

I have a case of toyota YZZA5 filters & they have the 15613-YZZA2 printed in the side of the filter pleats.
All the filters are the same size and matched the old one from my oil change today.

The "YZZA2" filter is the YZZA5. The "2" is most likely the internal (not customer sourceable) identification number. I was actually going to make a YouTube video about this after seeing a video about fake Toyota parts.

This cross-labeling mismatching problem doesn't help those of us that like to be extra sure.

...all that being said: you have the correct filter.

Usually in manufacturing, all materials have a part number, down to the solder and wires.
YZZA5 is most likely the assembly (or kit) that includes the filter, o-ring kit, plastic drain funnel, cardboard box.

This is the information I could not extract from my head yesterday. :help:

You know... I think you pointed that out to me last year when I was researching for that video. Thanks for the reminder! :D
