Why I am re-thinking every thing I know about Toyota

I am so sick of both of my Toyota vehicles. Excuse my rant.....

I have nothing but wheel balancing issues on my T4R. I had my first set of tires(Falken Rocky Mountains) balanced at least 6 times within 6000 miles before I threw such a fit to Discount Tire to replace them with Michelins, which were fine until I had them rotated and balanced two weeks ago. After three balancings(one being a Road Force) and countless hours wasted sitting at Discount Tire, the wheel vibration issue continues. There is no way this can be a wheel issue any longer.

I had the brakes done, new pads and rotors turned and then less than a year later had to have them re-turned due to unbelievable vibration and shaking when braking. Both times were done by an on vehicle lathe.

Add this to engine ticking, brake squealing, piston slap, sulfur smell(don't tell me its the gas, its not) creaky seats and more.

My wife's Camry 3.0 engine makes a whining noise that Toyota techs say isn't existent and I have had it at the stealership at least three times for a transmission issue that they also say doesn't exist. It also has a steering rod that makes a knock, which Toyota wont replace under warranty, but they know its an issue.

I'm about to trade in both of my Toyotas! For such great quality Toyota sure does have some issues. :rant:

After 7 years I am having issues with my '04 4runner. Bad under carriage rust, frozen calipers, bad rotors, check engine light and vsc lights on, hatch not working, etc. I have about 1000$ in it already, doing all the work myself, and it will take more.I like the things about the 4runner, but quality wise it doesn't compare to the wife's '04 Accord which has more miles and is driven harder.

I had a Scion for a few years with absolutely no issues at all. I think that the reliability of it was in the simplicity of the car. It was also 4 years newer.

In any case, I don't think that Toyota quality has gotten worse, it is just that other companies have made big strides in quality and owner expectations have gotten higher. I will certainly look at Honda, Ford and Infinity for my next vehicles along with Toyota.

Not sure why, but some items at the Toyota parts counter are reasonable, while some others are ridiculous...

i am having the exact same issues, 100% agree. i have Xreas leaking as well...
