Why is my gas tank farting?

Has anyone else noticed this sound when you remove your gas cap?

Its normal, but turn off your engine. It will also make that sound the whole time if you try to fuel up while you have the engine running. Don't do that.

Fuel vaporizes and expands. That's the sound of the pressure equalizing.

I noticed this also the other day. I was going to leave the 4R running while getting gas and all you hear is a long farting noise. I decided to go ahead and turn the engine off when fueling. Kinda weird because none of the other cars ive had in the past or rental cars that I drive all the time (from traveling) make that noise.

Wait....people still leave their engine running while refueling? No way, you're kidding me right? Why would you do that? :lol::ybrick:
