Why is the Limited called a Limited?

Why is the Limited called a Limited? I think it is only limited by the amount the dealers can sell. Or is it limited because of the reduced ground clearance. What are your thoughts.

Psychological games by marketing teams. Remember when SR5 was a top trim in the 80s? Then by the 90s it became mid level. By the 2000s they realized people feel richer by selling them the base model as an SR5.

Marketing games. I assume it has to do with production runs being "limited" for the top tier model. That was only true a long time ago and did not originate with Toyota.

I feel you really don’t want an answer, you just want to hate on Limiteds.

It’s the “luxury” trim package. IE all the fancy stuff like fulltime 4wd, push button start, dual climate control, smart door handles, up/down buttons on rear window, upgraded stereo, leather/sunroof standard, etc etc...

And to be honest, an SR5 and Limited sit at the same height and have similar clearance. Yes the Limited has some bulkier body panels... but that doesn’t prevent it from going off road. Tons of people mod Limiteds, myself included, and mine does everything a TRD Pro could do. Shit half the people on here don’t even go off-road, they just want a mall crawler that looks good.

Lol some of us do. I will say a "Limited edition" has been around for decades or more. The Ford/Lincoln produced "LTD" was a big status symbol in the 70s. Now as far as Mall Crawlers go? The T4R "Limited" is way more practical.

Haha not at all, just displaying the hypocrisy of someone dissing on a limited and its off-road potential when tons of people “mod” their non Limiteds and never leave pavement lol.

Limiteds are simply the luxury model, not everyone who buys a T4R cares about ground clearance. But limited can go off-road and hold their own especially with new suspension and bigger tires.

Full-time 4WD, X-REAS suspension, front & rear parking assist sonar, real leather heated AND vented front seats... just a few of the things I'm aware of.

The Limited has Full-Time 4WD! (with lockable Torsen center diff) That is the main reason I bought a Limited.

Approach/Departure angles AND ground clearance are equal on Limited, TRD off-road, and TRD Pro.

I wish the Limited had a locking rear diff. I guess A-Trac will have to suffice.
