Why is the sequoia/4Runner lacking in one feature?

I don't like subaru though. I wanted toyota to get that thru there heads and I know toyota won't read this or any forum but wish toyota put the 4runner with a power liftgate after all its a limited model that only gets push to start. Might as well put in none electrical door locks and hand cranks windows with hand crank sunroof and just a card board of a body instead of steel.

yeah I totally agree that's basically the same...
I still think the 4runner should have power tailgate. A power tailgate doesn't make it break because I have in on my venza(bought car at march 2016) and its still working. Its convenient when I go from the store and want my liftgate to pop up before I get to the car or I sometimes just press the button under the tailgate and it still pops up. There should be an aftermarket support like the rav4 had before. Toyota should have added a push to start on a sequoia for a 45K+ suv. Heck even the suburban has it. I had never a problem with push to start cars and I have owned 2 which was a lexus is 250 2007 and now my current toyota venza and soon to get a 2nd car which would be a roush 2015 mustang warrior edition t/c july 11th which even it comes standard with push to start in 2015.

I'm with the OP here. Most other vehicles also have a turbo 4 cyl. engine, 8 or more speed auto transmission, and a unibody frame that sits lower to the ground. Why doesn't 4Runner and Sequioa offer those features as well? It would certainly help these vehicles ride and handle better while delivering much better fuel economy plus being easier for people to get in and out of!

Definitely not serious! What I like most about the 4Runner is its relative simplicity compared to other vehicles. It's still a pretty basic truck built like a basic truck - and that makes it unique in the segment. If I wanted all those other things mentioned, I'd be driving any one of the hundreds of options currently available in the market.

I agree, the simplicity is exactly what attracts most of the people on this forum. I wouldn't be averse to them adding those fancy luxury features to the limited model, but leave the other models alone. Or just go buy a Lexus because that's exactly what a Lexus is: a luxury Toyota.

Eventually all vehicles will be push to start. Acting like such doesn't belong on a reliable, capable vehicle is like saying electric windows are only for pretty boys. But I'm sure some of you said that in 1980 as well.
The reason the current models don't have push to start & tail gate lift and other reliable and available features is something called planned obsolescence. More specifically, psychological obsolescence. Those marketing principles take some time to explain so just Google it.

This 2004 SR5 has been my favorite ignition.
After you insert the key you just sort of turn and release right away, don't have to hold it till the engine starts.
When I go to start a different car and its just 'click/no start'...as I didn't remember to hold the key to start, it always reminds me how I like this T4R.

No, I just simply don't like push to start or automatic tailgates. I've used auto tailgates before and they're painfully slow, I'd rather just open it myself. I'm not arguing that those features are any less reliable, I'm saying I don't like them and don't want them, leave all that glitter on the luxury vehicles.
Man, I really miss that from my 4th gen. I was shocked to find out the 5th gen doesn't have that, I had many stalled starts in the new car before I finally started remembering to hold the key for longer. I still do it every now and then
