Why not use 100k mile plugs to replace the 30k mile plugs in the V6?

Many high end cars are designed for non platinum/iridium plugs, ive had a few, my gallardo uses Champion QC59YC's, expensive but the coils are matched with the plugs for optimum performance, that being said unless one of my vehicles is designed and coil matched to a plug, I will use a platinum/iridium plug...

That was a good article on the plugs. I just changed my plugs about 2 weeks ago and I used the regular Denso OEM plugs from Toyota. Personally I decided to go with what the manufacturer suggested and don't mind changing them out at the 30k interval. It took me about 30mins max to change them and it will be a while before I go another 30k. I could have paid about twice as much for the iridium plugs and get a little more life out of them, but since I don't know the details as to why Toyota used the 30k plugs in the V6 and the longer life plugs in the V8 I just thought it was best to stick with what I had and replace it with the equivalent.

Oops... When I bought my 04 I did the quick glance through the Owners Manual and Maintenance charts. Somehow I thought my V6 would go 100k on the original plugs. Well at about 110k I decided to change them. I had not seen any change in mileage or performance just thought 110k was plenty for a spark plug.

Funniest thing I ever saw. One side of the engine had Denso the other had NGK! Go figure!

That seems to be typical. I noticed that too and have heard other comment on that. Kinda odd but that must have been the way they did them the factory back then.

I just changed out the factory plugs at 68K on my '07 T4R V6 and installed a set of iridiums. The coppers were certainly showing their age and the idle quality was suffering. It now idles smooth as silk and sounds much healthier than before.

I normally go with standard copper plugs, but I put a lot of miles on my daily driver and wind up changing plugs once a year. I thought I'd give the iridiums a try to see if I can stretch my maintenance intervals a bit further.

I also had Densos on one side of the engine and NGKs on the other. I am relieved to hear that it is typical for these engines. I changed the plugs on my V10 powered van and discovered that the previous owner probably paid a fortune for a tune up only to have the mechanic change only the 5 plugs that were easy to reach. The other 5 were the factory originals with 145K on them. :jaw drop:
