Will 285/65 or 275/65 fit with NO lift (just a little heat gun work)?

I think that they "Look Great"! These are the tires that "the Escalade" comes off the line with! They're Quiet, smooth, and they really hug the road around the curves!
Notice the second photo. The left tire is the O.E. "Geolander". It's still on the rim, and fully inflated (40 lbs psi). The one on the right, is the Gdyr Eagle LS-2, "Unmounted"!!
I think the O.E. is reported to be 9.4 inches wide, while the Gdyr is 11.8 inches; please don't quote me....not too sure about the numbers, but just a quick look makes my point.

NOTE: This 4Runner "Limited" is now Extremely Stable in terms of it's road management performance, and I never would have known what this truck was capable of,
if not for my curiosity about getting "A Premium" set of Tires!!!

I also have a Magnetic Grey and went with the Graphite Gunmetallic wheels with Nitto Terra Grapplers. Overall I like the look, it changed the appearance completely.

WOW ToyzRus, extremely "Meaannnn" looking truck, :lasercannon: possibly the meanest "magnetic Grey metallic" that I've seen from that vantage point; those rims SCREAM, "CHECK OUT THIS TRUCK"!!!

Good to know on GY tires. Always wondered about how they compare to other brands since they'e the OE tire for most Yukon, Tahoe lines and lower ratings on TireRack.

Cooper A/T3
ToyTec Ultimate setup (Bilsteins)

Lift wise, I am going to keep it modest (3") for now. Hey, i need to fit in my garage after all and I only have about 5" of room now (don't say it).

Before I bought any tires, which I didn't really need, I did some research and learned that the "Michelin" 275/55/R20 was @ the "Top of the heap"; in terms of load/safety ratings.

Much to my surprize, "Dunlap's" 275/55/R20, according to this pole, was at the absolute bottom of that same heap; and Gdyr was somewhere in the middle.
Of course I wanted to get the "Michelin", but the price tag (close to $380 per tire or $1520 for set), was prohibitive.

And not too many other tire manufactures are making a "275/55/R20"; it's an odd ball size. So I was stuck with the Gdyr Eagle LS-2, and the discounted price, ($190 per tire or $760 all 4, inclu mounting/bal) sounded very good. I think I have 1 more pic, but I'll shoot some more and post here.

Okay 4RYoya, As promised,

I took a couple of new shots today W/the ole' Android, but lighting was not the best. Hope they look better here, than they do on my camera phone. They're only about 2" wider (11.2" to be exact) than the O.E. Yokohama's, but they feel super firm around sharp curves and ultra stable at excessive highway speeds (Hence, the shallow sidewall).....feel like a million bucks!!

That looks good and glad to know it handles better. It buldges the tire a bit, not that drastic. I'm more interested in the tread width vs overall. I made a mistake on prior tires. Found a wider tire but when mounted it looks narrower because the tread was the same even though the side wall to side wall was wider. It also had rounded edge vs square if that makes sense.

I may go with the spacers to widen the stance too.

I thought that I'd done my homework, before...I chose and installed oversized tires on my LE. My understanding was, that a 7" (width) rim could accommodate, up to a 265mm tire. After that, you need to go to a 7.5" to mount a 275, or 285mm tire. Now I learn that the O.E., 20" LE rim, may only be 7"s wide.

But I think a bunch of us with LE's were going up to, 275 or 285, on a stock 20" rim, no lift, no spacers, no problem. So why are the tire manufacturers warning / prohibiting, the use of 7" rims for use with these alternatives??; mine look good, and perform very well.

My guess would be to minimize the risk of liability in an accident or a severe skid; any theories??

No theories just some facts Rig. Tires, like everything else, are designed to work within certain parameters. A tire is designed to have a specific profile when fully inflated. Take a look at your tire sidewall right above the contact area. See the slight bulge? The sidewall transitions in that area by flexing and unflexing as it rotates. Imagine how many times this happens at 70 MPH! By running a too wide tire it will have to flex even more at that point. Many run wider tires than recommended with no issues. There are two components that are on a vehicle that are the most important and those are brakes and tires. I don't take chances with either. If those tires were good to run on narrower rims the tire manufacturer would spec it. Its not so much liability but safety within design parameters. So really its your call.

Got it!! Guess I'll take the risk (not my 1'st gamble); I've already removed one Brand New set of tires from the truck to increase performance; Think I'll just wait for one of the "Rock Crawlers", to start having issues with their Oversized Turf Crushers first.
