Some CB antennas will work for scanners and some won't, depends on the antenna. If the antenna is tuned and has a loading coil in it at the bottom or in the middle it's set up to just work on 27Mhz but if it's a plain solid metal whip and doesn't have any coils or capacitors installed in it then it will work for receiving on any frequency and would be good for a scanner. Sometimes you can tell by looking but not always so the best way to tell is just by trying it. Or you could just get a scanner antenna to use from the start since they don't cost any more than a CB antenna. You can't use an antenna on more than one radio unless you have an A-B switch though and they have loss at higher frequencies so it's better to get a separate antenna for each radio.I am looking to get a fire radio for my 4runner, as I am allowed to respond to calls now, and I would like to hear what's happening as I arrive. That being said, I don't know anyone that would be able to help me with the install. I was wondering if any of you that have experience with scanners could tell me if a CB antenna would be compatible, and if I could run a CB into the same antenna as the scanner. Thanks in advance for any help, I really appreciate it.
