Will they ever make a trail with a 3rd row

I am looking at getting a new 5th gen but have a 4th child on the way. I am basically stuck getting a sr5 premium with a 3rd row as the front end of the limiteds are just plain ugly.
I doubt there is any chance of the 2016 model having a 3rd row option in a trail.
Anybody ever have a custom 3rd row put in a trail or can it be done?

8 posts down is a thread called E-locker w/ 3rd row. As the E-locker only comes in the Trail this has essentially exactly what you are asking. In short

*Yes people have put a 3rd row in the trail (factory Toyota parts), the threaded holes are their but you will not have air bags and iirc you have to do some bracket fabbing for the seat belts. Unless you have someone willing to swap buying all the parts from Toyota is going to be $$$$

*Much easier to buy the SR5 w/ 3rd row and add ARB locker, or any other trail goodies (besides KDSS, if you want that then I would say its cheaper to get the Trail and add 3rd row after the fact)

Thanks for the info. I am waiting for a 2016 model in the small chance they ad a 3rd row to a trail.
Most likely gonna have to get a sr5 and mod.

The Sr5 is just as capable and the money you save on it you can use for mods.

Why, after 6 model years, would they finally decide to add third row to a Trail? What is so important about the trail that you want it over the models that do have 3rd row?

the more aggressive atrac, locker, terrain control and KDSS is really the only thing you're going to net on the trail vs an SR5. and the aggressive attars and terrain control don't do much when you add a locker to the mix IMO. the KDSS is one of those things that is a matter of opinion. Personally i can't wait to rip mine off entirely but others like it quite a bit.

you'd have a lot better fit and finish by adding a locker to the SR5. as specified above there is an ongoing discussion already of the same topic, as well look at what Jason at Domello had to go through to fit the 3rd row in the trail. there are some anchor points that are factory installed (plastics as well) that are specific to the 3rd row models
