The price of fuel has fallen below four dollars a gallon around here, still high compared to where it was.....curious, how much are you paying for fuel in the UK?

I think this works out to $8.97/US Gallon. That's as well as the same issues with inflation you guys are having with food, natural gas, electricity, etc...

Yes, I will keep my lifted, modified 4Runner. Don't care how much it costs, I will never, never, never embrace EVs or own one. To me they are a Thermal Runaway waiting to happen. I would sooner buy horses because at least they are happy when I feed them. If I must we have a 2010 Camry that gets pretty good mileage. I don't think man made climate change is happening and the brainwashing started in the early 70s when I was growing up. It's cult like now. This is not a political statement.

All fake. Yes it's the Sun/solar cycles. Just an excuse for using a harmless gas that makes up 0.04% of the atmosphere and that is essential to life, as a proxy for more control/money for them, and less for us. Same as always.

It’s not really a debate. 8,000,000,000 humans consuming and wasting has an affect on the planet. Period. (Ever seen what a single new puppy can do in a house if left unattended? Yeah… multiply that and give the puppy thumbs and a bigger brain).
That all being said, lithium and EVs aren’t the answer. There’s some ridiculous ratio of like 100 tons of water to make 1 ton of lithium or something. So all the pro-EV folks need a reality check too.
The only real solution is a shift in our way of life.

You're talking about pollution though - I completely agree that:
Chemical pollution
Pesticides
Herbicides
Plastic floating in the ocean
Industrial monocrop farming
Top soil degradation
Habitat loss
Wasting of food, materials and energy
Are all issues that need solving urgently.
But I don't simply believe the "man made CO2 causes climate change" agenda anymore...so I don't debate it.
You could lower CO2 to 0.00% and those issues would remain. The only difference would be all the plants are dead.
I've never found a Branch Thunbergian who can explain why life flourished when CO2 was higher in the past, it can't be that bad for life given the size of the fauna that roamed the earth before the extinction. More CO2 - more plants - bigger animals...

5x is still, well, 5x higher. That's quite a lot. Life clearly survived and thrived. Or there wouldn't be records of huge creatures like mammoths, and we wouldn't be here, because the high CO2 would have caused all life to perish.
Like I said, I don't see high CO2 as an issue, so there is nothing to debate. You are free to keep believing the experts.

The only thing is that control over hairspray isn't a direct level of control over life itself! Carbon is as much a part of life as the oxygen to which it is attached when it is...CO2.

Well since i just bought a 4Runner, I am pretty sure i am stuck with it until i get it paid off.......
I remember that the oncoming Ice Age would kill us all, along with the population explosion and everyone starving. This was taught in public school.

Agreed, the evidence over the last 30 years is scary and easily observed in many countries that have been hit the hardest. If you trekked up to Everest BC#1 30 years ago and today, you would be stunned at the glacier melting and how warm it gets now.
We are trying as a family too...far less gas usage, eliminate synthetics, less electricity use, etc. Not enough though, and I'm looking at ways to reduce consumption wherever wasteful and wherever possible. One thing I'm looking at is that new solar stuff that even charges at night, and also putting in a HVAC that can cool/heat specific rooms instead of the whole house all the time.
If EV/fusion/hydrogen is adopted in more scale, it really kills the demand for foreign oil too. That would be an amazing side-effect and reduce the war machines of dictators like P Putin.

Good luck with that. Doing your thing to help is fine and dandy but in the grand scheme of things, it won’t help one bit when China/India/Russia/Africa etc don’t give a damn about the environment. We are borrowing more and more money to be green (from China) that won’t be worth a damn. Borrowing more money and buying more green crap from China are NOT gonna make China go green.
But getting back to Putin and energy…
Europe does not depend on Russian gas due to a coincidence, but because of a chain of mistaken policies: banning nuclear in Germany, prohibiting the development of domestic natural gas resources throughout the European Union, added to a massive and expensive renewable rollout without building a reliable backup. Solar and wind do not reduce dependency on Russian natural gas. They are necessary but volatile and intermittent. They need backup from nuclear, hydro, and natural gas for the security of the energy supply. Dependency on these backup sources rises in periods of low wind and little sun, just when prices are highest.
Batteries are not an option, either. It is impossible to build an industrial-size network of enormous batteries; the cost would be prohibitive and the dependency on China (for lithium, etc.) to build them would be even more of a problem. At current prices, a battery energy storage system of Europe’s size would cost more than $2.5 trillion, according to an MIT Technology Review paper, massively more expensive than any other alternative.
So yeah…going green is NOT gonna hurt Putin nor prevent future Putins! This was why Russia was funding these green groups in the EU. They got Europe to shut down their nuclear reactors, thus totally dependent on Russia gas.
It is the FLAWED thinking of the Greta Thunberg’s EU that made them be Putin’s little biatches!
