Sorry, i meant that the whole push against oil and going “green”…being green has blown up in our (and Europe’s) faces!

But, has banning Russia oil affected the war? Has it made Putin drop to his knees? Has it made Russia less aggressive? Has it made life in Ukraine better? Russia just shifted its shipment from Europe (whose skyrocketing gas prices are much worst than us) to India and China. China, in particularly, is probably loving this more than anyone!

Eh, maybe not to those questions, but it's like why I stopped going to BP. Yeah, I'm not really going to affect their bottom line in any significant way, but BP's icky. Russia's some kind of icky these days in particular. I don't want to deal with ickiness. If China chooses to scissor with Russia then I hope they're prepared for the icky crabs they're going to get.

I'd like to avoid both of them, but our way of living is more dependent on China than Russia which makes avoiding China way more difficult.

Ultimately, it comes down to the greed of the people who decided to get into bed with China in the first place decades ago and the people who decided to go along with it. If they didn't sell our souls for profit then we'd all be better off regardless of what China or even Russia might be doing.

Nothing will make me give up my 4Runner.

If anything, I've been browsing 90's cars for cheap that I could take a gamble on and make my daily driver.

Course I'm lucky enough to work for a repair shop, so I can ask the buyer to come in for an inspection before we make a deal, or I roll the dice like I've done in the past and immediately after buying something. I run right over for my techs to do a complete inspection of everything before I decide to keep it, or flip it.

See a good amount of Civics, Tercels, and other small 4 cylinder cars for under $2,500. I'd gladly invest some money into a vehicle I can rack up miles on while saving gas.

I'm starting to see $4.85 to $5.00 here in NJ. Even on the stations that aren't historically expensive. Right now I'm like, I drive a 4Runner and gas is 5 bucks a gallon. I'm going to drive as slow as I want. Eat me.

Those 1980/90s Tercels and Civics were tin cans with minimal safety features. For me at this point in my life, i am worth more alive than dead. And with so many trucks and big SUVs around, i refuse to be driving anything small. When i had Prius, this was a concern because you have Ford Heavy Duty or 18 wheelers or 4runners blowing past me.

Ignorance is your most cherished possession. We have 4000 square ft homes being built in tx with no solar on any of them. They pay at least several hundred dollars a month to comfort empty rooms. That's ignorance. It cost's far less to charge a Tesla regardless of where you are.

Charging at home is cheaper. But supercharging at stations is no longer much more “economical” when compared to gasoline cars.

(Of course, you buy Tesla for many other reasons other than saving gas.)

Learning how to properly use those pedals near the floor can save you 30% or maybe more on the gas bill. Money Mag had a good article about that last time fuel price spiked. One thing that surprises me is that heavy traffic on the freeway can be easily 2 mpg on the wifes GX vs no traffic.

A year from now i will get a steal of a deal on an RV. Inflation, including of course gas prices, crashing stock market, personal debt going up rapidly, etc, etc.

Tell you one thing, every time I ring up $70+ to fill my ‘07 (we have “cheap” gas here in Georgia ), I’m grateful that my truck has been paid off for years and the gas cost isn’t on top of a $500-600 a month car payment.

Just returned from a trip out west to Colorado. We saw EVs struggling in the Rocky Mountains because of the elevations and other places in New Mexico, and Texas because of the heat. Heat is a battery killer, any battery.

EVs with the windows down for air and rolling way below the posted limit. Sure, it was not exactly super cheap to drive the 4Runner but we sure enjoyed the trip in it.

That's why I think PHEVs are the way to go for those of us at Altitude. Cold weather can affect batteries as well.
That said, I know plenty of people that take Teslas to the mtns and have no troubles whatsoever.
