Window Tint

Just wondering what are your thoughts on these brands of window tints?

Formula 1 Pinnacle
Xpel Prime XR/Plus
Suntek CIR
American Standard Window Film (ASWF) Excel

I just recently installed the Pinnacle in my 4runner so I don't have a lot of experience with it yet and I want to install some tint in my wife's Sequoia next.

I like the first three brands the most and the Pinnacle and XR/XR Plus the top two.

Any of you have any experiences w/ any of these brands and what are your thoughts on these brands and why would you choose it?

Thanks.

I had Formula 1 Comfort 30 (sides/rear) and Air Blue 80 (windshield) on my last vehicle (Mk6 Jetta); I switched it up with Formula 1 Pinnacle 15 on the sides/rear of my 4Runner and Air Blue 80 on the windshield and would never look back to a lighter film combo. The difference in heat reduction between Comfort 30 and Pinnacle 15 is substantial. I've also had Pinnacle 30 done on my dad's Q5 and AB80 on the entirety (incl. sunroof) of my mom's C300 with wonderful results.

The only other one offered in my area (that I've seen) is the Suntek, but no experience with that unfortunately.

The Pinnacle/AB80 combo is far from inexpensive (compared to the local tint shop down the street I spent nearly 6x more on the F1 Pinnacle), but it's wonderful stuff that works

just go with a quality ceramic type window tint, theres a price difference from ceramic and metallic. and also dyed type.

I have the Pinnacle 35 installed in my front windows and 15 in the rears. I was thinking of installing the Pinnacle 50 on my windshield but I’m kind of hesitant on it. The place where I had it installed mentioned that local LEOs don’t hassle as much in my area but I’m afraid that they’ll hassle me once I leave my area and go to my parents city. I was looking at the Air80 too so we’ll see what happens.

The local tint shop that installed the Pinnacle said they would install the Pinnacle 50 for $200. Im seriously debating but first and foremost I definitely want to do my wife’s ride first.

Thanks for your input.

That was my plan from the get go but what are your thoughts on those tint brands that I mentioned.

The Formula 1 Pinnacle and Xpel Prime XR/XR+ are on the top of my list. Do you have any experience with any of these brands?

i have the LLumar formula 1 pinnacle on my truck for years now, very good. no bubbles or any defects.

did they tell you any price difference from each brand? some might just want to get rid of old stock. but it seems to be good stuff.

if you want matching performance, i would just stick with what you have on the other trucks.

To do my wife’s Sequoia with the Formula 1 Pinnacle tint, it would be $495 for the whole SUV minus the windshield and sunroof if I had one.

Unfortunately the shop that carries the Xpel Prime XR tint is temporarily closed at the moment due to from what it looks like a remodeling job of their shop.

Do you think it’s worth it to get the windshield tinted? I’m strongly thinking about it after I get my wife’s ride done. Have to price out the Air80 but I’m thinking it’s along the lines as the same price range as the Pinnacle 50 that the shop I had my windows done, which is $200

windshield tint as a strip or the whole window?

if you can get away with 50% at the windshield, i go for it.
for me here in the northern california, its mostly a cop magnet.

Whole windshield for $200 with the Pinnacle 50. If not the 50 maybe the 70.

Same rate as the shop that did mine in Maryland; the glare reduction w/ the AB80 is impressive, and there is definitely a heat reduction.

The AB80 is just barely dark enough to give a slight visual cue to the presence of window film from the outside world when viewed at an angle; directly into the windshield looks like nothing

These pics are from a recent trip, so they aren't the greatest at showing the difference from head on vs. an angle, but it kind of works

Image didn't go through but thanks for that info. Will definitely have to check it out. Thanks.

No love for 3M window films?

I just got my Acura done with Color Stable, and getting the 4Runner done soon with their 3m Crystalline on all windows including the clear 90 on the windshield.

Going primarily for heat rejection for desert off-road driving, and trying to not go too dark for night driving off-road.

Heard that Crystalline is very expensive to do the whole vehicle about $700+ and that’s not even including the windshield

I love doing the windshield. Limo dark all the way around with windshield makes it very difficult to see into my 4R while I am in it. I like the privacy.

Yeah can’t do that just for the fact I’d like to be able to see out at night and also I’d prefer not to get a ticket and waste more money just to remove it. I’m not Richie Rich

I've never had a problem with either of those issues... yet :whoo:

I'd be pissed if I had to take it off, but like I said, on all the cars I've done this to, never had an issue.
